Congratulations to our member Joe on his recent award at the CHI Behavioral Health “Gathering the Harvest” fall celebration.

He was awarded the Beacon of Light award for his participation in CHI Behavioral Health’s facilities and for returning to a productive, independent life.

We are thankful for his well-mannered presence and progress at Divine Living. Thank you to our staff, Joe’s family, medical professionals, and housemate who keeps him motivated to live a better life at his fullest potential.

Elijah is now a Senior…super excited and thankful to be apart of his teenage/adolescent years. Divine Living will develop a plan to assist Elijah in achieving his goals and will prepare him as he transitions into adulthood. It has been a blessing watching him mature into a young man and can’t wait to see what God has in store.

Divine Living is excited to be partnering with Inroads to Recovery to continue providing exceptional services to our individuals served and the continuum of care.

Inroads to Recovery is highly recognized for its mental health and substance use treatment programs.

Services they provide are:
- psychiatric evaluations
- medication management
- outpatient mental health and substance use disorders therapy
- intensive outpatient program
- residential treatment program.

We are looking forward to the success of this partnership and continuing efforts in helping individuals with developmental disabilities live their lives to their fullest potential.

For children with autism, sports-related activities may help lessen the negative effects of autism. Studies show that regular aerobic exercise can decrease negative, self-stimulating behaviors like rocking, and spinning or self-injurious behaviors like head-banging. It can also temporarily increase attention span.

Elijah balled out in his first basketball game. He finished with a game-high of 10 points, 1 rebound, and 1 steal! He was on Fire! Great Job Elijah!!

Matthew ran the 4x100, 100m and threw the shot put at the Millard North invitation. Great job Matthew!!

Children on the autism spectrum in particular can display a deep sense of creativity and imagination. Individuals on the spectrum can be extremely creative thinkers and artists as professionals. To get the most out of this potential, having healthy outlets of creativity and creation from a young age is important.

It’s so amazing to watch him create a masterpiece…I love his creativity he focuses a lot on detail as you can see.

Unified Sports joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. It was inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding.

Matthew’s first Unified Track Meet was today hosted by Millard South High School. He competed in the 100m, 4x100 relay, and shot put. DaShawn, our executive director stayed by his side as support and motivation. Go, Buddy!!
