September is Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) Awareness Month, which focuses on raising awareness about a condition where the arteries that carry blood away from the heart to the legs and arms become narrowed due to a buildup of fatty plaque, leading to leg weakness, cramping, heaviness, or tingling sensations during walking or exercise, leg pain at night, slow-healing wounds on legs and feet, decreased hair growth on legs, and one leg or foot feeling colder than the other. Risk factors include diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, and family history of PAD.
