True North Counseling, LLC My name is Sally E. Hansen, MS, LIMHP. I received my Master of Science Degree in Community Counseling at the University of Nebraska-Omaha in 2009.

True North Counseling was established in the tumultuous year of 2020, inspired by the idea to continually strive to be our best, authentic selves, especially during these challenging times amid a pandemic. I have worked in community agencies, group home settings and private practice. My training and experience include working with children aged four and up, teenagers and men and women of all ages. I have extensive training and experience working with individuals addressing anxiety disorders, depression, anger management, trauma, family dynamics and childhood behaviors. I have taught classes for anger management and facilitated groups for children exposed to domestic violence. I have specialized training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT.) I am certified in Parent-Child-Interaction-Therapy (PCIT). I utilize techniques from Psychotherapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness strategies. Managing stress, increasing self-esteem, overcoming bullying issues, adjusting to life’s transitions, coping with grief and loss, improving parenting skills and building individual strengths are some of the topics commonly discussed in therapy. I am an LGBTQ ally.

Hey everybody! For all of you in the Omaha metro area, I am starting a Women’s Anger Management group. The purpose of this group is to provide a safe environment to learn how to manage anger effectively, stop violence or the threat of violence, develop self-control over thoughts and actions and receive support from others. This group is open which means you can join at any time, however, there is a limit of 8 people at a time. The group begins November 7th, 2024. Group will run every Thursday night from 6-7:30 pm. The fee is $50/session. After you attend 12 sessions you will receive a certificate of completion and walk away with valuable skills for controlling your angry feelings and improving personal relationships.
