People struggling with substance abuse or addiction can pursue recovery through various approaches, such as therapy, support groups, and rehabilitation programs. Recovery from addiction typically involves maintaining sobriety, developing healthier coping mechanisms, and rebuilding one's life.

It's important to note that recovery is not always a linear process, and the time frame and outcomes may vary depending on the situation and individual circumstances.

While it is common to blame oneself for a fall, overly engaging in self-denigration is rarely helpful in recovery. The important thing is to take a look back to notice where you fell and what caused the stumble.

Implementing a structured routine and following certain simple habits every day, will help your recovery get easier. Here are a few other daily habits for recovery. If you’re thinking about the past, bring back to the moment. Avoid feeding yourself negativity. Implement some morning meditation for mindfulness. Reciting positive affirmations can also be extremely valuable. Reaching out for help takes courage. Consider that it is a sure sign of strength rather than any weakness.

It is possible to stay sober through the holidays, but it’s a good idea to go into them with a plan. Stress is common during the holidays and one of the main reason people relapse. People who are newly sober are even more vulnerable to the stress this time of year. If you’re in recovery, you aren’t guaranteed to relapse just because it’s the holiday season. However, it’s best to be cautious of the risks, remain aware of your triggers, and seek out extra help if you know this time of year might be difficult for you.

Here are some ways to stay on track and minimize stress:
1. Going to regular recovery meetings
2. Maintaining your normal schedule as much as possible
3. Opting out of parties with alcohol and other substances and attending sober events instead
4. Practicing proper self-care during the holidays
5. Avoiding stressors whenever possible
