Trevor Roy, alongside a cadre of our experts from QLI’s rehabilitation team, trialed QLI’s new ARC EX stimulator this week.

The ONWARD ARC EX System delivers electrical pulses to the cervical spinal cord via electrodes placed on the skin at the back of the neck. It is designed to improve hand sensation and strength for people with a chronic cervical spinal cord injury.
It represents more than an innovative piece of tech. It’s a symbol of hope.

Currently, the system is available for QLI rehabilitation clients with incomplete spinal cord injuries.

We continue to ride the crest of the wave of rehabilitation technology thanks to your generosity and contributions. Thank you for bettering and empowering the lives of those we serve.

Going from a peer to the official leader of a team can be a delicate process that requires great compassion, listening skills, collaboration, and empowerment.

QLI speech therapist, Zoey Bertsch, recalls how Trisha Funk took the reins to lead the Speech and Life Skills team in a skilled and beautiful manner.

Is it really December without Snowmen and Angels? Thanks to our friends at Right at Home, our East Campus was filled with plenty of both this last week! With warm helping hands and hearts that melted with love, Right at Home helped us "craft" a fun afternoon full of Christmas Cheer.

The American Heart Association "Sweethearts" lived up to their name while visiting QLI this weekend. With kind-hearted smiles, conversations, and maturity beyond their years, these young women pampered our East Campus residents Saturday morning with manicures, facials, roses, and lots of love.

They wrapped up their morning with a Zoom presentation on the power of positivity and resilience by a QLI alum, Rachael Johnson—a QLI favorite who is a strong, kind-hearted, and successful woman.

Rudy Lyons will tell you Monday was just another day. Ask anyone who knows him, and it meant a whole lot more, because Monday marked Rudy’s 85th trip around the sun.

The photos from that morning offer a snapshot of the ground Rudy covers and some of the people he inspires every day.

Rudy’s journey as QLI’s Coordinator of Housekeeping began in 2008 at the spry age of 67, and he’s showing no signs of slowing down.

Rudy doesn’t have to work. He wants to work. After all, he’s now 20 years beyond traditional retirement age. But Rudy also has a secret to his vitality that we all should take note of. His remarkable physical, mental, and spiritual well-being is fueled by perpetual engagement and a driving sense of pride and purpose.

Rudy’s son sent a birthday text that sums up what Rudy means to all of us who are fortunate to be in his life. “Happy Birthday Pop, at 85, you’re still the sharpest knife in the drawer, full of quick wit and a spirit that refuses to slow down. You look decades younger, but it’s your heart and your steadiness that inspire me most.”

Rudy, thank you for inspiring all of us. Happy Birthday!
