Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day! Each January, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s enduring legacy of service and advocacy. A central leader of the American Civil Rights Movement, Dr. King dedicated his life to advancing justice, equality, and unity.

Here are a few important moments from Dr. King’s life:

✅1944: Dr. King enrolled at Morehouse College at 15 years old. He earned his PhD in systematic theology in 1955 at Boston University.
✅1963: He organized the historic March on Washington, a peaceful demonstration of the injustices faced by Black Americans nationwide.
✅1964: Dr. King earned the Nobel Peace Prize for his powerful activism against racism and the movement for equality.

Today as we reflect on Dr. King’s legacy, we are reminded of the importance of serving others and treating all people with dignity and respect.

Our independent living residents were so excited to welcome local author Joel Green to Ovation! Joel is the director of Robber's Cave: Truths, Legends, Recollections in Lincoln, Nebraska, and has given over 900 tours to groups from all over the world in the last 10 years.

His book won the Nebraska Book Award for the nonfiction/local history category. Our residents enjoyed an educational and riveting presentation about Robber's Cave, which a group of us had the pleasure of visiting in November. 🔍🕶️
