Coach Greco demonstrates the highest integrity with an impeccable work ethic. One of the best parts of being his kids is that we were witness to that for his whole coaching career. Congrats Coach!

ICE VERSUS HEAT?

The days of throwing ice on your shoulder or elbow after throwing need to be reevaluated. More and more evidence points towards utilizing heat to help our bodies recover better and in line with our natural physiology.

When our brains receive input that an area needs to be addressed (recovery, perceived injury, pain, etc.) it will send a large amount of fluid a.k.a. inflammation, and inside of that fluid is a ton of blood. Inside of the platelets of our blood are cells called undifferentiated cells. These cells can morph into whatever we need at that time. Applying heat to an area helps open up those blood vessels and bring more of those repairing cells.

If you want to be able to throw a lot and to throw well, you have to learn the art of recovery.

The person who created the R.I.C.E. protocol is quoted above. The original advice was teal rest, ice, compression and elevation. Now we know better information and utilizing heat will help recovery after throwing.
