❤️ Omaha Metro - Let’s Be Ready When Every Second Counts. ❤️
Two FREE smartphone apps are now live in the Omaha area, connecting everyday citizens to nearby cardiac emergencies and building a stronger AED network across our community.
Omaha Fire EMS officials are urging residents to download:
🔴 PulsePoint Respond
🟡 PulsePoint AED
Both apps integrate directly with the 911 system.
How They Work
🔴 PulsePoint Respond (Red App)
When a 911-reported cardiac emergency happens near you in a public place, the app alerts you so you can begin CPR before paramedics arrive.
🟡 PulsePoint AED (Yellow App)
Allows you to log the location of AEDs you encounter, building a verified community registry accessible to first responders and bystanders.
You do not need CPR certification or a first responder background to use either app.
Why This Matters
“For every minute a victim is down without compressions, their chance of survival drops ten percent,” said Dave Keber, Paramedic Supervisor with Omaha Fire.
In Omaha, bystander CPR rates are currently below 50%.
That means too many people aren’t getting the immediate help they need.
“PulsePoint is a tool and like any tool, if we don’t continue to take it out and use it, if we don’t recruit our citizen responders well and build that robust registry, all of this last year’s work will be for nothing. We truly need the community to embrace this technology,” Keber said.
This only works if we participate.
Download both apps.
Encourage your family and coworkers to do the same.
Log every AED you see.
Together, we can strengthen the Chain of Survival and protect the hearts of our neighbors.
