✨ Oh hey, autism—there you are! ✨

When my boys were freshly four, this was one of their favorite ways to play: lining up animals, one after the other, in perfect little rows. Back then, I didn’t recognize it as autism—I just thought it was their unique way of playing.

Now, as both a mom and a pediatric speech-language pathologist, I know better: ALL play is meaningful. Lining up animals isn’t “wrong” or something to redirect—it’s a beautiful window into the way a child sees the world. 🦒🦁🐘

It’s our last week of our summer rainbow clinic and Mr Blue Door came in this weekend for some much needed work to fix our fish tank AND our swing. So our fishy friends will be returning from their vacation and we will be ready to get back into the swing of the fall schedule! Shark week at Blue Door just got even more exciting!
