ModernEyes Eyecare & Eyewear ModernEyes Eyecare & Eyewear provides quality comprehensive eye health exams, contact lens fittings, and glasses and contact lenses for all ages.

ModernEyes Eyecare & Eyewear is a new, locally owned optometric practice. We provide comprehensive eye health exams including diagnosis and management of many systemic and ocular health issues, contact lens fitting and assessments, and "red eye" office visits for people of all ages. As an eyecare provider, Dr. Reed is committed to providing quality eye examinations and educating her patients on the importance of proper ocular health. Dr. Reed is also a provider for both InfantSEE and See To Learn examinations for children. In addition to educating her patients on proper ocular health, Dr. Reed believes it is important to have stylish eyewear that you not only love, but that meets your lifestyle needs. At ModernEyes Eyecare & Eyewear, you will find unique, quality frame lines for just about any budget. Dr. Reed earned her Doctorate of Optometry in 2013 from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, after completing externship training in ocular disease, contact lens fittings, and vision therapy. Originally from Papillion, Nebraska, Dr. Reed has enjoyed being back in "The Good Life". Dr. Reed and her husband, Josh, are involved in various community activities and are active members of their church. They also enjoy spending time with their son, Brayden, and cheering for the Huskers. Dr. Reed also enjoys her early mornings kickboxing and strength training at FXB. When she has time, she also likes to hit the links and sneak in a round of golf.

Ryan recently passed the National exam to become a Certified Paraoptometric! We finally got her certificate and couldn’t wait to share a picture of her showing it off! We will get it up on the wall ASAP. She’s learned so much and continues to grow in her role at ModernEyes. We could not be more proud of her for obtaining this certification. In Nebraska, it is not required to be certified, but it shows an extra level of commitment to staying up to date on the latest information in eye care. Please join us in congratulating Ryan for her achievement!

We’ve had a few of our patients ask about Dr. Reed’s adoption process and if they can help.

Dr. Reed and her family, along with many of our team here at ModernEyes are completing a Both Hands project on October 18, where we will be using “Both Hands” to serve: one for an orphan (their soon-to-be daughter) and one for a widow (a sweet lady the Reeds know from church).

Check out their page if you’d like to contribute! 100% of every contribution goes to help the Reed family with adoption related expenses and the first $11,000 will be matched thanks to two great organizations: Both Hands and LifeSong for Orphans/Tim Tebow Foundation.

Raise funds for your adoption by gathering a team, sending out sponsorship letters, and serving a widow in your community.

Dr. Reed currently serves as President of the Nebraska Foundation for Children’s Vision, and the board is excited about our upcoming projects and goals. Would you consider donating to this fantastic organization?

The NFCV Board has set a goal to raise $10,000 for the Sight for School Fund. The Nebraska Department of Education and school nurses across our state know that an increasing number of children need eye exams but do not have insurance and can’t access or qualify for other charitable care.

The Fund reimburses optometry doctors at Medicaid-allowable rates for the costs of providing eye exams or eyewear. Additional funds will enable our doctors to serve more of these patients in need across Nebraska.

We are the experts in children's vision issues. The Nebraska Foundation for Children's Vision seeks to ensure that every child entering school in Nebraska is visually ready to learn.

Our team had a wonderful at Nebraska Optometric Association’s Fall Conference last week/weekend!

Kadence attended her first ever conference and did a great job helping direct paras to their classrooms, etc. She’s always ready to learn!

Dr. Holmquist was in attendance and enjoyed catching up on new information from the various speakers.

Dr. Rischling is serving liason for the paraoptometric committee to the board and will be helping plan their continuing education. She also was recognized for completing the NOA Leadership Institute program.

Dr. Reed nominated and was able to present Candi with the Nebraska Paraoptometric of the Year Award. Congratulations to Candi-this is so well-deserved! Candi recently stepped into chairing the paraoptometric committee and will help unite and grow paraoptometrics across our state. She will be helping plan their CE and involvement at conferences.

As chair, Dr. Reed provided updates on the Nebraska Foundation for Children’s Vision. She also took the gavel in the ceremonial proceedings as she will be serving as the President of the Nebraska Optometric Association in 2026.

We are thankful to have the opportunity to both attend and serve at these conferences. We enjoy collaborating with others in our profession, learning, and getting to know other eye nerds.

Thanks for letting us share with you!

Kier has been on our team for a whole year tomorrow! She’s learned so much about both being an optician and paraoptometric technician. She has a wonderful sense of style when helping people pick out the perfect pair of glasses, too.

We are so thankful to have Kier on our team!

How did we miss posting this on the day we celebrated Dr. Rischling’s birthday?!? In any case, we absolutely love having Dr. Rischling here on Fridays. She’s wonderful with all ages and is extra passionate about helping people struggling with dry eyes.

We celebrated these two lovely ladies’ birthdays last week! Ryan (right) has continued to grow in her role as a paraoptometric technician and Kier (left) is doing amazing splitting her time as both an optician and paraoptometric technician.
Kier also just got married, but we will have to wait to share a picture or two from her wedding until she gets her pictures back from their photographer.
We love our staff around here!

Last week, Dr. Reed and Brian spent a few days in Fort Dodge, Iowa, providing about 380 eye exams and glasses to those in need of eye care in the community. Brian played a key role in helping cut lenses for glasses prescriptions that could be provided same day to these patients. The rest will be made and delivered to them in the next few weeks. We love supporting OneSight and similar organizations to serve those who need it most. Thank you to the rest of our team for holding down the fort, our families for allowing us the time away from home, and to our patients for your flexibility while Dr. Reed is out of the office while we give back to this wonderful profession!

This week, Dr. Reed is representing the Nebraska Optometric Association as President-Elect for NOA at Optometry’s Meeting and American Optometric Association/House of Delegates in Minneapolis. It’s been a wonderful meeting so far and we are bringing back lots of ideas and strategies to keep improving optometric care in Nebraska. We also had an evening to watch the Twins get a win with the North Central States Society.
