Rehabilitation

Midtown would like to introduce Mitzi, our Director of Rehabilitation. As our Director, Mitzi is deeply involved in the day-to-day work of supporting residents as they rebuild strength and independence. She leads by example, stays hands-on with her team, and consistently puts resident outcomes first.

Mitzi’s dedication, knowledge, and steady support make a real impact; not just in therapy sessions, but in the overall experience for residents and staff alike.

As part of Midtown’s Department Spotlight, we’re introducing Jackie and her role as our Occupational Therapist.
Jackie works closely with residents on daily activities that support independence, safety, and confidence. Her role focuses on practical, functional goals—helping residents adapt, rebuild skills, and navigate everyday tasks that matter to their routines and quality of life.
Through hands-on therapy and collaboration with the rehab team, Jackie supports residents as they work toward meaningful progress, both in the therapy gym and beyond.

As part of Midtown’s new Department Spotlight, we’re getting to know our Physical Therapy Assistant, Kalen, and the path that led him to rehabilitation.
After high school, Kalen joined the Air National Guard while exploring his career direction. He began working as a personal trainer, where he discovered a passion for helping others build strength and confidence. With encouragement from his mom, who taught at Clarkson College, he explored the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Clarkson College and had the opportunity to shadow the program’s director—an experience that confirmed physical therapy was the right fit.

We’re excited to introduce Jamese Basken, our Director of Social Services & Admissions Coordinator!
Jamese brings 19 years of experience in human services, with a strong background supporting individuals and families in crisis and advocating through complex situations. Her experience in case management, communication, and advocacy is a valuable asset in skilled nursing, where trust and smooth transitions of care matter most. She looks forward to supporting our residents and families with compassion and clarity.

We are pleased to welcome Heidi as our new Director of Nursing. With 22 years of nursing experience, including extensive work in skilled nursing and clinical leadership, she brings a steady, hands-on approach to resident care and team support. She is known for her focus on quality outcomes, staff development, and maintaining survey-ready practices. We are excited for the leadership, experience, and stability she brings to our leadership snd nursing team.

HAPPY NEW YEAR from the residents and staff at the Cypress at Midtown! 🥳🎉 Charcuterie cups, sparkling juice, fudge, poppers, balloons, and good conversation was enjoyed at our NYE party this week!

Our administrator walked into quite the surprise this past Monday morning 🎁! Over the weekend our staff used their breaks to spread the holiday cheer through every inch of her office!!

She’ll be unwrapping until next Christmas! 🎄 Not pictured here: the individually wrapped binder clips, pencils, and energy drinks 🫣
