“I thought I’d feel overwhelmed, but I found fulfillment and direction at Creighton.”

When senior Madisyn Dudek first arrived at Creighton, she felt the same mix of excitement and uncertainty that many first-year students experience. What she didn’t expect was how quickly campus would feel like home.

She found friends who became family, professors who offered encouragement and clinical experiences that gave her learning real meaning. Today, Madisyn is president of the Nursing Senate and member of the Nursing Leadership Scholars—roles that have helped her grow as a leader while pursuing her purpose.

Creighton’s Lindsay Iverson, BSN’05, MS’09, DNP’11, adult acute care nurse practitioner, says AI has freed healthcare professionals from time-consuming tasks so they can focus more on what matters most: connecting with patients. 💙

“AI can help health professionals predict illnesses, personalize treatments and even make care more accessible in rural areas,” Iverson explains. It’s their “partner in progress.” 🤝

At Creighton, nursing students have opportunities to grow not only as future healthcare professionals but also as leaders. One way they do this is through Nursing Leadership Scholars (NLS). 🤝

NLS helps students build communication, collaboration and professional skills while being part of a supportive community. Each semester, students attend retreats that include guest speakers like the Dean of the College of Nursing and NLS alumni, Q&As with upperclassmen, interactive activities and even service projects such as making tie blankets for local healthcare facilities. And of course—there’s always food to keep the energy high!

We’re proud of how NLS encourages our nursing students to step into leadership roles early on, preparing them for meaningful careers in healthcare and beyond.

To in the College of Nursing means being part of a community that supports you while preparing you for your career. 💙

For junior Sophie Hoem of Fort Wayne, Indiana, that welcoming spirit was clear from her first snowy visit to campus. Now, she says, “I can never walk across campus without stopping to talk or wave at dozens of people. That community, combined with the rigorous nursing program, has given me countless opportunities to learn and grow.”

Sophie is part of the Student to Nurse (S2RN) Sponsorship Program at Children’s Nebraska, where she works as a CNA and will return after graduation as a pediatric nurse. She hopes to continue her education as a dual-track pediatric nurse practitioner. 👶🏻 🩺

Beyond nursing, Sophie is active in Theta Phi sorority, Nursing Leadership Scholars, CLC, DREAM Scholars and even studied abroad in Ireland.
