Every milestone feels different when you know it’s the last time. For senior Delaney Broz, her final fall semester at Creighton was filled with reflection, challenge and gratitude. 💙

A retreat with Residencial Life helped Delaney recognize just how much her Creighton community has shaped who she is today. Academically, the semester pushed her to think critically, advocate for patients and step confidently into her future profession. Personally, her “last first day of school” marked a shift — from life structured around semesters to a future full of new opportunities.

Delaney’s biggest takeaway: growth requires being comfortable with the uncomfortable and leaning on others along the way.

Creighton University’s new CRNA program is launching in 2027 to help meet critical workforce needs while preparing highly skilled, compassionate clinicians to serve patients where they’re needed most. As she begins her final semester in the nursing program at Creighton, Alicia Cepress is choosing to focus on presence and intention. 🩺

Instead of equating busyness with productivity, Alicia is slowing down and being more mindful of how she spends her time. She is prioritizing meaningful interactions with patients, classmates and loved ones, knowing that these moments are where growth and purpose are found.

As she prepares to enter the nursing profession, Alicia is committed to growing not only in clinical skills but also in compassion, listening and humility. By letting go of perfection and trusting more deeply, she is creating space for reflection, gratitude and connection.

In December, nursing and other Creighton students engaged in a collaborative dinner, student research presentations and discussions about the history of lead pollution in Omaha at Creighton's Highlander Child Safety Center. This event culminated a semester-long, collaborative effort involving student-led soil testing, pediatric blood lead screenings, GIS mapping and research, health education and stakeholder discussions.
