This week’s card: “Grocery Surprise”

We are a couple weeks late on rolling this one out because I had been doing my grocery shopping online, but I finally made it to the store today.

Our challenge this week was to purchase items out of someone’s grocery cart behind us. We felt that was a little intrusive, and so instead we decided to purchase a gift card and give to the cashier to use for the next person behind us.

We didn’t stay to watch. No “Thank you” was needed. Curiosity always sneaks in and at family dinner we talked about possible scenarios. Maybe this was a kindness to the person buying the groceries but maybe this was kindness to the cashier to be able to be a part of giving. Did she choose someone? Was it the next person who came to her line? Did they use it all on a big purchase or was it a small purchase and the cashier gave multiple times? I won’t know the answer but it felt good knowing any of those scenarios were possible!

Practice kindness every day.

This week’s card: “Give Thanks”

Our challenge last week was to give thanks to a first responder. We chose firehouse number 52 in Omaha to give our gratitude to.

When we greeted the captain, we were met with a sadness. It was a sadness for a loss of their own to a battle with cancer. They were preparing for the funeral procession.

This day-this particular fire station…I hope it offered them an ounce of joy.

This week’s card: “Review It”

Send reviews to people and places that matter. I need to be more mindful and review more frequently when service is good or even if a person made my experience just a bit better. I believe in 5 star reviews. If I had a difficult visit that may not be a one off it is better to address with a manager before leaving bad reviews. They really can hurt a business. So if you want to play along think of the business that are working hard to serve you and let them know you appreciate them.
