This weekend, Stephen Center hosted an incredible "Creighton Wellness Day"! We were proud to welcome an amazing team from Creighton Med, Creighton OT/PT, Creighton Dental, Creighton Paramedics, and OneWorld.

The impact really speaks for itself: 45 individuals received dental care, 12 children received wellness services, 15 adults were served by the Med, OT, and PT teams, 10 referrals were made to OneWorld and 9 outside referrals were provided.

Thank you Creighton and One World for coming together to support our clients with compassion and care!

Last Friday, Creighton OT students were part of another CarFit event. It’s powerful to see how small changes make a big difference. Participants are amazed to learn how a few simple adjustments—like seat height, mirror angles, or steering wheel positioning—can improve both comfort and safety behind the wheel. Even better? Many leave excited to share what they’ve learned with friends and family, extending the impact far beyond the event.

This program reflects what makes Creighton Occupational Therapy unique:
🔹Offer the opportunity for students to become CarFit Certified Technicians
🔹 Connecting students with community partners to provide valuable services for older adults.
🔹 Giving students hands-on opportunities to apply OT principles in real-world contexts.
🔹 Building partnerships that support safer, more independent living for our aging population.
We are grateful for our incredible CarFit partners:

Laura Haddan Raastad, DRM Wellness; Brian Pfeifer, Adapt Home Services; Amy Robbins, Clare Senior Advisors

Shout-out to our amazing Creighton OT student volunteers—you make events like this such a great experience! A special thank you to Libby from Connect 55+ for helping us coordinate this opportunity.

We’re already looking forward to our Spring and Summer 2026 CarFit events. Together, we’re helping older adults stay safe, independent, and confident on the road.

Creighton University’s Occupational Therapy faculty and students played a key role in the statewide Stroke Transitions Across the Continuum conference, funded by a Nebraska DHHS grant.
Faculty member Rebecca Kinnison served both as a planning committee member and site facilitator in Norfolk, where the event was featured in local news. Erin Young led interprofessional discussions, and Creighton students took part in hands-on learning.
This innovative conference — supported by research led by Kinnison and student Carly Brown — is helping to shape the future of stroke care across Nebraska.

Creighton University celebrates Dr. Rebecca Kinnison for her leadership in advancing stroke care across Nebraska. She helped plan Stroke Transitions Across the Continuum, a DHHS-funded conference focused on team-based excellence. Alongside OT faculty Erin Young and Colleen Spellman, she led a hands-on Rehab Escape Room to tackle real-world stroke rehab challenges.

Rebecca and Erin also facilitated statewide discussions, connecting rural and urban providers. With RST student Carly Brown, she’s collecting feedback to measure the conference’s impact on practice.

This work reflects Creighton’s commitment to collaboration, rural outreach, and evidence-based care.
