I have an announcement to make. I have no other choice then to quit driving cab. The cab company was trying to over charge me. This has been going on for several weeks now and I've been putting up with it. Paying it. But this week was really outrageous.
So I went job searching and I found a really good job. I'll be working with an Omaha Ambulance Service that has a contract with the Veterans Administration driving a handicap van.
After training I'll only work 4 days a week. 10 hours a day. They start at $10/hour but because of my experience I'll start well above that.
I'm going to miss driving taxi, but I'm excited to see what this new chapter in my life has in store.

CHANGE OF PLANS: The manager wasn't able to pick up my Intellaride tablet so I won't be starting until Tuesday June 13th.
So if you need my services tomorrow during the day I should be available for you.

Beginning tomorrow I'll be taking Intellaride orders only between 9am-3pm Monday thru Friday.
I will be able to take personals only with the advance notice. I will need to be informed of the personal no later then 10am the day prior. That gives me time to inform the company and they have time to adjust my intellaride schedule to make room to pick you up.
I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Starting Monday June 12th I'm going to start working with intellaride. IR requires a specific time commitment. I'll choose to work from 9am-3pm because most my regular customers are picked up before or after 3.
If you need ride between 9-3 I will need to know by about 10:30am the morning before do I can change my availability the next day.

If you work in the service industry and you live on tips how can you NOT tip someone that works in the service industry and lives on tips? Don't you believe in karma? You're just shooting yourself in the foot.
I just dropped off a waitress at the Olive Garden that paid me exactly the meter. SMH

After my accident I'm going to a chiropractor. I'm scheduled for 2 visits a week for the next month and half.

So this afternoon I was sitting in front of Bergan Mercy Hospital waiting for my customer (never showed) and the valet asked me to pull around because an ambulance was about to pull up to pick up a baby. The ambulance pulls up and they pull the stretcher out of the back and it has an incubator looking contraption on it for an obviously very sick little baby. While they was loading the sick baby, out comes a nurse with another family holding the new little addition to their family with grandpa taking countless photos trying to look like a professional photographer loading the baby up in the back of their '62 Mustang.
I'm sitting here watching all this happening and it occurs to me how some families are so fortunate while others have so many struggles and I wonder if anybody else involved even noticed the magnitude of what was taking place.
A real humbling experience.

You might wonder where is the safest seat in a taxi? Enter the researchers from University of Buffalo who studied crash-related fatalities in relation to seat location. It turns out the backseat is 59 to 86 percent safer than the front seat. More astounding is that the middle seat is 25 percent safer than the window seats in the back.
I think the reason for this is because in every collision there is actually 3 collision. The primary collision is one of the two vehicles collide metal meets metal. The secondary collision happens inside the car. This is caused be inertia. When the vehicle comes to a sudden and abrupt stop, the bodies inside the car continue in the same direction at the same speed. Often banging into each other. This is one reason why I don't like for people to sit directly behind me. The third collision is when the body cones to a sudden stop and all the organs inside the body continue and crash into each other.

I list my hours as M-F 8-6:30 but actually I leave home at 7am to go to Bennington (about 45 minutes away) and pick up my first customer (this kid with special needs) and take him to the Childrens Hospital. I drop him off about 8:15 and that's when I'm open for business.
I have to be available for him in the afternoon from about 2-3 to take him back home.
The rest of time I may work contingently (based on weather, business, special events happening, etc). For example next Sunday morning at 2am is day light savings time so I may work Saturday night only because party goers will have an extra hour and that'll give me more time to make money.
