Creighton University Department of Physical Therapy This page is hosted by the Creighton Department of Physical Therapy

The faculty of the Department of Physical Therapy affirm the mission and values of Creighton University and the School of Pharmacy and Health with the recognition that each individual has responsibility for maintaining the quality and dignity of his/her own life and for participating in and enriching the human community. This ideal requires both individual effort and the collective support and assistance of others. The Creighton Department of Physical Therapy as an educational environment facilitates individuals and communities in achievement of this ideal through the nurture, support and advancement of physical therapy as a professional discipline. - See more at: http://spahp.creighton.edu/departments-offices/physical-therapy-department/philosophy .isiGcKEp.dpuf

Serving the community and keeping runners running: Kip Callahan (class of 2026) volunteered at the San Antonio Marathon as a medical provider to triage and treat marathon runners. From wrapping ankles to monitoring blood sugars, Kip was able to work with an interprofessional team to get runners back on the course. Thank you to the crew at Texas Physical Therapy Specialists for providing this opportunity for our student! 🏃‍♂️

Congratulations to Isaac Hayen on being selected as the Department of Physical Therapy August Student of the Month.

This is what his nominator, Quinten Vasa from the class of 2026, said about Isaac:

Isaac exemplifies the Ignatian value of cura personalis—care for the whole person—through his selfless dedication to his classmates’ growth and success. During his week off, Isaac devoted extra time to helping a peer prepare for the CCPE, practicing clinical examination and intervention techniques together and empowering them to approach the exam with greater confidence. Isaac’s daily joy, positivity, and genuine commitment to the Creighton DPT community inspire all who work alongside him.

Congratulations Isaac! We are proud of you.

Congratulations to Tori Rands on being selected as the Department of Physical Therapy July Student of the Month.

This is what his nominator, Dr. Julie Hoffman, said about Tori:
Tori has been a true leader within the PT ILAC 2026 class. As the point person for the “Hire a PT Student” fundraiser, she not only coordinated student involvement but also personally stepped in to ensure tasks were completed on time and commitments were honored, especially when others were unavailable. Tori leads with quiet dedication and humility. These attributes will positively impact the people of the Dominican Republic and beyond.

Congratulations Tori! We are proud of you.

Congratulations to Izzy Martinez on being selected as the Department of Physical Therapy June Student of the Month.

This is what his nominators, Dr. Grindstaff and Dr. Julie Hoffman, said about Izzy:

Izzy Martinez exemplifies the Ignatian value of Magis—pursuing excellence in all that she does. As Vice President of the Creighton University Sports Physical Therapy Association this past year, she emerged as a dynamic and highly effective leader. Her work on the Katie (Schindler) Prins Shoot-a-thon showcased her initiative, strategic thinking, and exceptional organizational skills. Izzy expanded outreach efforts to boost participation and skillfully coordinated volunteers to ensure the event ran seamlessly. Beyond this year’s success, her forward-thinking approach and thoughtful mentorship have laid a strong foundation for next year’s leadership to build upon.

Congratulations Izzy! We are proud of you.

Congratulations to Noah Urwiler on being selected as the Department of Physical Therapy May Student of the Month.

This is what his nominator, Dr. Schumacher, said about Noah:

Noah Urwiler went above and beyond to serve his community while on a rural clinical rotation at Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, NE. Noah is living out the Jesuit values of service and a commitment to helping others by participating in the annual trash pick-up day. Rural clinical rotations often demonstrate the importance of showing up in your community, and we are glad that Noah took advantage of this opportunity. Way to go!

Congratulations Noah! We are proud of you.
