The CDC has officially adopted its updated immunization guidance:

COVID-19 vaccination is now based on individual/shared decision-making between patients and providers.

The prescription requirement has been removed. No need for a qualifying condition to receive the vaccine.

These changes take effect immediately, aligning with the latest recommendations from the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).

CDC updated its adult and child immunization schedules to apply individual-based decision-making to COVID-19 vaccination.

CDC COVID Vaccine Recommendations Update

The CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recently met and provided new recommendations to the CDC director. These include:

Individual-based, shared clinical decision making for receiving a COVID vaccine.

Removal of the prescription requirement which would also remove the previous requirement for patients ages 6 months to 64 years to have an underlying medical condition that increased their risk of severe disease.

This update is currently pending the CDC director’s signature. Once finalized, we will immediately update our protocols to align with the new guidance.

Due to the current government shutdown, the timing of this approval is not yet clear. We will keep you informed as soon as changes are official.

Kohll’s Ensures COVID Vaccine Access for Children Amid Nationwide Shortage!

Parents across the country are facing challenges in finding COVID vaccines for their children. About three weeks ago, Moderna, the only manufacturer of the COVID vaccine approved for ages 6 months to 4 years old (and up through 11 years old), indicated to Kohll's of a nationwide shortage.

While many pediatric offices are experiencing difficulty obtaining supply, Kohll’s planned ahead. We ordered ample doses and are now helping to meet the community’s need by administering many more pediatric vaccines than usual.

We’re grateful for the trust local pediatricians have placed in us as part of their care teams.

On a separate note, Millard vaccine appointments and walk ins have moved back to the pharmacy side of that location.
