🍁 Thanksgiving can be complicated — and that’s okay. 🍁
At Compassionate Minds Therapy, we know the holidays don’t feel joyful for everyone. For many, Thanksgiving brings stress, loneliness, grief, family tension, or chaos that can make this season feel overwhelming instead of comforting.
If you're noticing those feelings, you’re not alone. There are ways to care for yourself:
❤️ Coping Strategies for a Gentler Holiday:
1. Set boundaries early.
It’s okay to say no, limit the length of visits, or step away from conversations that feel draining.
Example: “I’m going to take a quick walk outside. I’ll join back in a bit.”
2. Prioritize small moments of calm.
Give yourself permission to pause when things feel hectic.
Example: Take 5 slow breaths before entering a crowded room or step into a quiet space for a grounding exercise.
3. Stay connected, even in small ways.
Loneliness can feel bigger during the holidays. Reach out to someone who feels safe, even with a simple text.
Example: “Thinking of you today, hope you’re doing ok”
4. Create your own traditions.
If old traditions bring stress, it’s okay to build new ones that feel nurturing.
Example: A morning walk, journaling before dinner, or making your favorite comfort meal.
5. Practice self-compassion.
Your feelings are valid. You don’t need to be cheerful, productive, or “on” to be worthy of care.
🧡 If this season feels heavy, Compassionate Minds Therapy is here to support you. You deserve peace, connection, and space to breathe — today and always.
