Guiding Hands Midwifery

Guiding Hands Midwifery Lydia Rhodes is a Certified Nurse Midwife who provides full gynecologic and obstetric services . Jenda is a Lactation Consultant. We provide complete GYN care.

Additionally she is a Family Nurse Practitioner who can provide care to the entire family. Lydia and Jenda have guided countless mothers through the normal process of labor and childbirth by being continually present and providing one on one labor support. We were the first midwifery service within both Bergan and Lakeside! Lydia is a Family Nurse Practitioner as well and provides care to all ages, often starting with the babies she delivers! She is also able to do sick visits. Jenda is an IBCLC and works to make your breastfeeding experience an easier transition, often available to help you as soon as you are discharged from the hospital!

"Guiding Hands Midwifery" was started by Jenda Stauffer in the fall of 2013. I (Lydia Rhodes) partnered with her in early 2014 at baby #20. Since then, we have practiced together and caught over 2300 babies! Although we have not technically been at the same hospital since last year, we continued to share our office and this month we will finish out our practice known as Guiding Hands Midwifery. After 28 years, she delivered her last baby yesterday and I would like to be the first to say Congratulations and Happy Retirement Jenda! 👏🎉
I will be continuing to practice and will announce changes to the name and site in a few days but I would like to give everyone a chance to say congratulations as well!

Changes this New Year! Jenda is doing her deliveries at Methodist Women's. Lydia is continuing to do her deliveries at Bergan. They no longer cover for each other since they are delivering at different hospitals. Neither is delivering at Lakeside.

We are pleased to present our 2023 statistics. We feel privledged to have such truly amazing patients who make it easy to love our job. We hit a record of 239 births for the practice this year (not bad for two CNMs)! Our VBAC number included 4 successful VBACs after 2Cs. Our thanks to Dr Barsoom and Dr Kuhlmann for always being such advocates! We thank you for all of your support as well!
