My journey into motherhood began as a young, married woman living in a new state, far from family and familiar support. I entered pregnancy filled with love and hope—but also fear. I was uninformed, uncertain, and deeply unsupported, navigating a season that should have felt sacred, largely on my own.
My first labor was long and painful, ending in a medicated birth that left me emotionally disconnected from the experience. While my son was safely born, I walked away knowing something was missing. Abs ultimately developed postpartum depression. I had not been held, prepared, or truly supported as a mother during one of the most transformative moments of my life.
Everything changed with my second pregnancy.
This time, I chose support that was just for me—a doula. Another mother. A steady presence whose sole purpose was to focus on me. Through education, encouragement, and intentional care, I learned to trust my body, quiet my fears, and prepare with confidence.
When the day came, I labored and delivered calmly and confidently—during a tornado and flash flood unfolding outside the hospital walls. In the stillness of that room, I welcomed my second son through a completely natural water birth, surrounded only by myself, my husband, and our toddler. It was powerful! It was redemptive! It was everything birth was meant to be!
That experience awakened a calling.
I now believe deeply that it is my purpose to ensure other mothers never walk into birth feeling afraid, uninformed, or alone. Every woman deserves to feel confident in her body, supported in her choices, and held with care throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
Grace & Womb was created from this conviction—to offer intentional doula support from pregnancy to postpartum, and to nurture motherhood with grace, presence, and purpose.
