Missing someone can feel like an ache in your heart, a longing for their presence, voice, or touch. It’s a deeply personal experience, and it’s okay to feel the weight of that absence. Here are some ways to cope:

1. Acknowledge Your Feelings
• Allow yourself to feel the sadness, longing, or even joy from memories.
• Journaling can help process your emotions and give them a voice.

2. Stay Connected in Your Own Way
• Write them a letter, even if you can’t send it, expressing how much they mean to you.
• Look at photos, read old messages, or listen to songs that remind you of them.

3. Create a Ritual of Connection
• Light a candle, meditate, or pray while thinking about them.
• Dedicate time to remember them, whether through storytelling or quiet reflection.

4. Lean on Others
• Share your feelings with someone who understands.
• Seek comfort in friends, family, or a community where you feel supported.

5. Focus on the Bond
• Remember that love and connection transcend physical distance.
• Celebrate the impact they’ve had on your life and the lessons they’ve taught you.

6. Engage in Self-Care
• Do something kind for yourself—take a walk, cook a meal, or enjoy a hobby.
• Take breaks from heavy emotions when you need to.

It’s natural to miss someone you care about—it’s a reflection of their importance in your life. Over time, that longing may evolve into a warm sense of gratitude for the bond you shared.

Missing loved ones during the holidays can be especially hard, as the season often brings memories and traditions shared with those we’ve lost or are far from. Here are some ideas to help cope and honor their memory:

1. Create a Tribute
• Light a candle in their memory.
• Display photos or keepsakes as part of your holiday décor.
• Write them a letter expressing your thoughts and feelings.

2. Share Stories
• Talk with family and friends about favorite memories involving your loved one.
• Share funny or heartwarming stories to keep their spirit alive.

3. Continue or Adapt Traditions
• Keep some traditions they loved, or create new ones inspired by them.
• Cook their favorite holiday dish or play their favorite songs.

4. Engage in Acts of Kindness
• Volunteer or donate to a cause that was meaningful to them.
• Perform a random act of kindness in their honor.

5. Practice Self-Compassion
• Allow yourself to feel your emotions—grief, joy, or even both at the same time.
• Take breaks if holiday gatherings feel overwhelming.

6. Stay Connected
• Reach out to others who may also miss them and share your feelings.
• Join community or support groups for those experiencing similar loss.

7. Make Space for Reflection
• Spend quiet time journaling or meditating on their impact on your life.
• Visit a place that reminds you of them, if possible.

It’s okay to feel a mix of emotions during the holidays. Finding small ways to include your loved one’s memory can bring comfort and a sense of connection.

We are not just products of our environment, we are creators of our environment. Once we become aware of how our environment is shaping our choices, we can make simple yet powerful shifts in our environment to make healthier choices more accessible. The process starts with awareness!

I have noticed as I get older, my mobility has declined. I have always had tight muscles and no flexibility, but as I age it has been getting worse. I found a gentleman on YouTube, Tom Morrison. Great stretching for any part of the body. If you are having trouble with sore or stiff muscles, check him out and let me know what you think!

I have decided to give up alcohol!!! Going to be tough. I have started to cut back; I was drinking Friday, Saturday and Sunday and for the last couple of weekends I have been only drinking one day, so my goal is to be done with alcohol by October! 🙂
