As a mom of four and someone with a background in mental health, I’m seeing more and more children struggling to regulate their nervous systems. In a world that feels chaotic and fast-paced, it’s no surprise our kids are feeling overwhelmed.
When children act out, they aren’t being ā€œbadā€ — they’re asking for help.
That’s why I’m so passionate about Reiki. It’s a gentle, supportive approach that helps children slow down, build self-awareness, and process their emotions more consistently. Reiki meets each child exactly where they are, creating a safe space for calm, balance, and connection.
Our kids don’t need perfection — they need support, understanding, and tools to help them feel safe in their own bodies. šŸ’›

Today I was driving alone, taking in the beauty of the Appalachian landscape, and for once I truly saw it. The rolling hills, the quiet strength of the mountains, the stillness in the air… it all felt overwhelming in the most peaceful, grounding way. Some things are just too beautiful to put into words.
Not long ago I lived life at full speed, rushing from one moment to the next without ever really being present. I didn’t realize how much I was missing.
Through my Reiki journey, I’ve learned to slow down, to breathe, and to be still. In that stillness, I’ve found a deeper appreciation for the world around me and for the land I’m blessed to call home.
Reiki has given me more than relaxation. It’s helped me reconnect with myself, with nature, and with a sense of gratitude I didn’t know I was lacking.
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is simply pause and take it all in. šŸ’«

Here at Aligned & Ready, I hold space for you when things feel heavy—when your mind is racing, your body feels tense, and you don’t quite know where to begin.
Let’s talk about stress… and more importantly, how to work with your nervous system instead of against it.
Stress isn’t just in your head—it lives in your body. And when your nervous system is dysregulated, even small things can feel overwhelming. That’s not a failure. That’s biology.
Here are a few evidence-based practices we use in holistic coaching to support regulation and resilience:
✨ Physiological Sigh (Breathwork)
A double inhale through the nose, followed by a slow exhale through the mouth. Proven to quickly reduce stress and calm the nervous system.
✨ Grounding Through the Senses (5-4-3-2-1 Method)
Engaging your senses helps bring you out of overwhelm and back into the present moment—widely used in trauma-informed care.
✨ Co-regulation & Safe Connection
Being seen, heard, and supported in a safe space helps regulate your nervous system. You don’t have to do this alone.
✨ Gentle Movement
Walking, stretching, or slow, mindful movement helps release stored tension and signals safety to your body.
✨ Cognitive Reframing
Noticing and shifting unhelpful thought patterns—an approach rooted in cognitive behavioral coaching—can reduce emotional intensity.
✨ Body-Based Awareness (Somatic Check-ins)
Pausing to ask ā€œWhere do I feel this in my body?ā€ builds emotional awareness and supports nervous system regulation.
This work isn’t about ā€œfixingā€ you.
It’s about helping you feel safe in your own body again.
