I teach at Timber Rock Lodge in Oneida, TN. It is such a beautiful and calming space.

I play a little background nature inspired music (nothing real distracting so we can focus on ourselves) on the tv and we get settled in on our mats. All my exercise poses are beginner friendly (I don't teach headstands or anything). Class does last an hour so you might get a little winded and sweaty, but isn't that what exercise does?

Maybe your thinking you're not flexible or strong enough. Us Yoga Teachers call it a yoga practice because Yoga meets you where you are. It's not about how you look, its about how you feel. A great Yoga teacher welcomed and taught his students how to use props (things that would support a practioner in their practice). He said anybody can practice Yoga. I am certified in Adaptive Yoga so if you don't feel good in a pose, there are ways to customize it for your body. Thats what I love about yoga! All the options 😍 Rest is also encouraged whenever you need it.

We come to class to learn our bodies and how to support them (myself included) to be less stressed, more flexible, stronger, and in less pain. So come out and try it! Your first class is FREE! I hope to see you soon! ❀️

My name is Angela Newman and I am the owner and Yoga teacher of Butterfly Yoga. I have been blessed to be able to teach Yoga in the gorgeous Great Hall of Timber Rock Lodge in Oneida, TN for 4 years this year!

The owners of the lodge, Ralph and Michelle Trieschmann have truly created something beautiful for the community. The lodge can be reserved for a variety of events including weddings and meetings, and they have lovely rooms that can accommodate guests who need a place to stay. It looks like it's straight out of a Hallmark movie. There's even a spa, The Skin Clinic 😍

I am so thankful for the opportunity to offer a chance to relax to the community or guests staying at the lodge. My goal in teaching is to provide a calming environment for whoever walks in😌 The movements that I teach are beginner friendly, but an hour long yoga class can be challenging if you don't have a regular exercise routine, meaning, you may get out of breath. It is ok, because we are all there to practice and improve, not judge, rest is encouraged! I have been practicing yoga for about 20 years now, but there is always room for growth. We all go through seasons and my practice has gaps in it and times I didn't do it a lot. Yoga meets you where you are and helps get you to where you want to go, one breath at a time.

Yoga has made a huge difference in my life. My mat was a safe space for me to be myself, to do what I could. Yoga can be a lot of movements and breathing to get the blood pumping and help you de-stress, it raises the blood pressure and the heart rate, but then it goes to slower movements and longer breaths to lower the blood pressure and heart rate back down. This teaches the nervous system and body how to regulate and function in a way to make you feel calmer and more relaxed in general.

✨Peace is not the absence of chaos, but rather finding yourself in the midst of chaos and remaining calm in your heart ✨

An appreciated side effect of this regular movement practice to release stress is you also develop strength, as yoga uses your own body weight to support youπŸ’ͺIt was a huge boost in confidence to be able to hold plank (part of a series of flowing poses) for a long time after doing poses like Downward Dog, Upward Dog, and coming to stand in Mountain Pose. I want to share that feeling of being able to do something you couldn't do before because you worked at it!πŸ¦Έβ€β™€οΈπŸ¦Ήβ€β™‚οΈ
