Hi,
My name is Angela Newman and I am the owner and Yoga teacher of Butterfly Yoga. I have been blessed to be able to teach Yoga in the gorgeous Great Hall of Timber Rock Lodge in Oneida, TN for 4 years this year!
The owners of the lodge, Ralph and Michelle Trieschmann have truly created something beautiful for the community. The lodge can be reserved for a variety of events including weddings and meetings, and they have lovely rooms that can accommodate guests who need a place to stay. It looks like it's straight out of a Hallmark movie. There's even a spa, The Skin Clinic π
I am so thankful for the opportunity to offer a chance to relax to the community or guests staying at the lodge. My goal in teaching is to provide a calming environment for whoever walks inπ The movements that I teach are beginner friendly, but an hour long yoga class can be challenging if you don't have a regular exercise routine, meaning, you may get out of breath. It is ok, because we are all there to practice and improve, not judge, rest is encouraged! I have been practicing yoga for about 20 years now, but there is always room for growth. We all go through seasons and my practice has gaps in it and times I didn't do it a lot. Yoga meets you where you are and helps get you to where you want to go, one breath at a time.
Yoga has made a huge difference in my life. My mat was a safe space for me to be myself, to do what I could. Yoga can be a lot of movements and breathing to get the blood pumping and help you de-stress, it raises the blood pressure and the heart rate, but then it goes to slower movements and longer breaths to lower the blood pressure and heart rate back down. This teaches the nervous system and body how to regulate and function in a way to make you feel calmer and more relaxed in general.

An appreciated side effect of this regular movement practice to release stress is you also develop strength, as yoga uses your own body weight to support youπͺIt was a huge boost in confidence to be able to hold plank (part of a series of flowing poses) for a long time after doing poses like Downward Dog, Upward Dog, and coming to stand in Mountain Pose. I want to share that feeling of being able to do something you couldn't do before because you worked at it!π¦ΈββοΈπ¦ΉββοΈ
