Today, the Ironside Family Funeral Homes Oneida Majors team played the Ironside Family Funeral Homes VVS Majors team. It was a beautiful day to watch a softball game at Maxwell Field in Oneida. It is always an honor to sponsor local youth teams in various sports across the communities throughout the year.

Plus, if you look closely, you just might recognize two girls who are members of the Ironside Family. Best of luck the rest of the year, girls! And a special shoutout to the volunteer coaches for all you do!

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bruce A. Herb, a loving husband, the most devoted father and the best “Pa”. Bruce passed after a valiant two month long battle with cancer on the morning of May 25, 2026, with his family by his side.

A Celebration of Bruce’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, starting at 3 PM at the Vernon Town Hall Pavilion, 4305 Peterboro Rd., Vernon. All donations and raffle proceeds will go towards expenses incurred during Bruce’s illness. The family will also be starting a Stay Curious Scholarship for future tradespeople. Josephine F. Smith, 69, of Westmoreland, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with MS.

Josephine’s Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Annunciation, 7616 E. South St., Clinton, where the Rev. Matthew E. Rawson will officiate. Interment will take place in Lowell Cemetery. Helen M. (Gniazdowski) Panek, 89, of Cedarcrest Lane, Oneida, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026, at Oneida Health Hospital after a brief illness.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Helena’s Church, 210 Primo Ave., Sherrill, where the Rev. Joseph P. Ryan will officiate. Interment will take place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Oneida. Family and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday prior to the Mass from 10 AM to 11 AM at the church.
