Thank you to everyone at the United Way of Mid Rural New York, Inc. for bringing attention to this issue. We are all in this together!

Every family deserves the opportunity to give their children a strong start.

This , we’re taking a closer look at what it really takes to make that possible. Child care is often the single largest expense in a household's budget, as seen here for Duval County, Florida, where the cost of basics is near the national average. For ALICE* families, the cost of quality child care can push an already stretched budget past its limits.

When we understand these challenges, we can unite to build solutions that support children, strengthen families, and create brighter futures for all.

*ALICE stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, and represents households with income above the poverty level yet unable to make ends meet

The Familiy Resource appreciate the work that is done byt the Federation of National Federation of Families. Please check thek out and get involved if you can. We are all in this together working to build happier, healthier and safer communities where people want to live and work and raise families. It takes all of us.🫶

Since the launch of our 2026 theme someone asked us, "What is Congregate Care?" If this is a term you're not familiar with, you are not alone. We decided to offer a clear definition of what the umbrella phrase "congregate care" includes—especially since we have launched a survey to collect family voice and lived experience about these kinds of mental health and substance use treatment settings.
