This week marked Care Coordination Manager (CCM) Appreciation Week!

STC would like to thank all of our wonderful CCMs who work diligently daily to ensure all STC members receive quality healthcare and support. Because of you, members gain greater independence and meet their personal goals.

Here’s what CCMs have to say about their work:
“Being a CCM is such a rewarding career. I love helping the people I support.”
-Nicole Garritano

“It’s nice to have a job where you know you are making a difference, even when you have a hard day, you know the work is important.” -Carl Winter

Thank you to all CCMs for all of your hard work and care!

STC is getting in the spooky spirit!

Missy Summers and Stephanie Bailey, STC staff, represented STC at Twist’N Flip Cobleskill’s Trunk-or-Treat event! Trick-or-treaters had the chance to visit their pirate-themed trunk to play a pirate hook ring toss game, walk the plank, and enjoy a treat. Everyone enjoyed the fun and the opportunity to learn about all of the resources and programs offered by STC.

Events like these are just one way that STC serves the community!

Ali, an STC member, is a funny, clever young person who communicates with sign language and an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device. When the iPad Ali uses as her AAC device began glitching, her CCM, Nicole, helped find funding for a new device.

You can read more about Ali and Nicole’s story in the most recent edition of The Connection Newsletter: https://shorturl.at/gLCxo

STC members, Brandin and Alex, recently joined a local cornhole league. They are thrilled to be part of a team and excited to improve their skills! This league began through the incredible support of Alex and Brandin’s sister, Brittany. She saw that many people with intellectual and developmental disabilities struggled to find activities in the community throughout the long northeastern winters. Brittany worked with Brandin’s Special Olympic bowling coach to create this local league. The siblings spent hours meticulously painting each cornhole board to ensure it was ready for the first day of the league!

Congratulations to Brandin, Alex, and Brittany on a job well done!

The STC Binghamton office recently participated in Chalk the Walk, an initiative led by the Broome County Suicide Awareness Coalition (BC SAFE). STC staff beautified their community by sharing messages and images of hope and resilience on the Binghamton sidewalks. Chalk the Walk promotes suicide prevention, mental wellness, and stigma reduction.

At STC, we support the whole person, including members’ mental health. Thank you to everyone in the Binghamton office for drawing attention to this important cause!
