Since August, I’ve been making gluten-free sourdough bread every weekend.

I followed the recipe to the letter.
Measured everything.
Watched the temperature.
Timed every step.

Paid attention to hydration, fermentation, rest.
If I skip steps…
change the timing…
swap ingredients…
or rush fermentation…

The bread tells on me every single time.
Dense. Flat. Off.

Sourdough is unforgiving because it’s like biology, not baking magic.

And this is exactly how health works in midlife.

When it comes to:

Nature has taught me many lessons, and one of them is that you can’t grow the branches of a tree bigger than the trunk.

When you grow the trunk you can grow every branch bigger and spread your canopy wider.

If you try to grow a branch bigger than the trunk, you split the tree.
Your health is the trunk!

If you are taking supplements, read this.

Supplements can be helpful, especially with the right guidance.
But they are not the whole picture.

Your environment matters just as much, if not more.

The air you breathe.
The light in your space.
The clothes and products you use.
The clutter or calm around you.
The people you spend time with.

A cluttered, chaotic environment creates stress on your nervous system and makes healing harder.

You are a microcosm of your environment.

HOT TAKE

Protein becomes the most toxic macronutrient in your diet when it is not fully digested.

These days most “experts” are preaching, “Just eat more protein.”
That advice only works if your digestion is working.
When protein is poorly broken down, it doesn’t quietly pass through, it putrefies.

And that creates stress on:
The immune system (food sensitivities, allergies, histamine issues)
The liver (ammonia and toxic byproducts)
The gut (inflammation, dysbiosis, leaky gut)
This is why undigested protein is more problematic than carbs or fats.

Common signs of poor protein digestion:
- Gas after high protein meals
- Strong or foul smelling gas
- Very strong stool odor
- Bloating or heaviness after meat
- Post meal fatigue or brain fog
- New or worsening food sensitivities
- Skin issues or allergy like symptoms

More protein is not the answer when digestion is compromised.
Better digestion always beats more intake.
