4 days of upgrading our commitment to our friendship and marriage have been deeply moving here at CIVANA Resort and Spa.

Here are a few lessons we’d like to pass on.

Spending time with someone doesn’t necessarily mean that you are present to them. What can bring you more present to your partner?

The importance of stillness and creating a safe space cannot be overemphasized. This is where our best self shows up.

Eye contact is an underutilized bonding opportunity that increases connection and oxytocin.

It’s important to check in twice daily and ask, “what would you like to be acknowledged for?” And “what are you grateful for?”

Create a safe space and time for conflict resolution.

Work on nervous system regulation for better relationships. This can be through body work, breath, time in nature, and mindfulness.
Never take your partner for granted and recognize even the smallest of gestures.

Be bold and ask your partner what they actually want, no need to second guess yourself.

So much brain rot occurs from the way videos are edited these days.

Fast cuts, shocking/graphic stock footage, and brain-frying music all come together to create the perfect storm to create chaos and anxiety.

If you listen carefully, you can hear people's brains melting into goop.

This is why I refuse to participate in creating content that lowers a person’s state of function and attention.

It's why I speak at a calming pace with no cuts.

It's why it's me speaking directly to you, like a human, instead of an in**ed imbecile that has the attention span of a fruit fly.

If one cannot pay attention to a life-changing message for more than a few minutes, they have no chance and being healthy, living long, and having autonomy over themselves.

Be mindful of the type of content you consume, it's just as relevant as a quality of food you eat.

Most people try to transform their health by upgrading the wrong thing first.

We obsess over the hardware of the body - Labs. Scans. Supplements. Biomarkers.

And yes, these matter.

They absolutely play a role. But hardware upgrades only ever create incremental improvement.

You can only increase muscle strength so much.
You can only improve bone density so much.

You can only enhance circulation or cognitive performance so much.

Think of your phone.

The latest Samsung, iPhone, or Google device looks almost identical on the inside compared to last year’s model.
The hardware barely changes.

But the software?

That is where exponential transformation happens.
I recently updated the software on my two year old phone and it felt like I bought an entirely new device. Same hardware. New operating system. Dramatically different experience.
Your health works the same way.

When you update the software of your life
✅ your beliefs
✅ your patterns
✅ your emotional wiring
✅ your traumas
✅ your value system
✅ your identity

You unlock changes that happen almost instantly.

Software upgrades are faster.

They are more accessible.
They cost less.

And they unlock the full potential of the hardware you already have.

When you shift your inner world, the outer world follows. Your labs look different. Your body responds differently. Your results reflect more of your true potential.

Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
Leonardo da Vinci said it first, and it has never been more true than when it comes to your health.

We live in a world that loves to complicate everything. Programs. Protocols. Products. Plans. Yet the most sophisticated instrument in the known cosmos, your body, is also the simplest to care for.
In fact, I believe taking care of your health should be embarrassingly simple.

That was me for the first 42 years of my life.

Newborns breathe about 40-60 times per minute.
Adults settle around 15 breaths per minute.

Across 80 years, it adds up to hundreds of millions of breaths...yet we rush through life barely noticing a single one.

Your Nervous System Is Not Broken. It Is Knotted.

Most people's nervous systems are like an old charging cable.

When you first bought it, it was long, flexible, and could reach exactly where you needed it to go.

But over time, through trauma, stress, grief, and emotional challenges, knots start to form.

At first, you ignore them.

Then you pull harder.

You push through.

You add more stress on top.

And yes, the cord still works, but not at its fullest capacity.
It does not reach as far.

It does not function the way it used to.

It limits your potential in ways you barely notice anymore.

This is exactly what happens in the nervous system.

We do not slow down to untangle.

We simply keep pulling.

And the knot gets tighter.

But here is the truth:

Your job is not to power through.

Your job is to unwind what has been binding you.

When we help clients restore their nervous system, we are not fixing them.

We are removing the knots that have quietly restricted their potential for years.

How do we do that?

As women, we’ve been conditioned to do it all.
To take care of everyone else.

To keep going, even when our bodies are begging us to rest.
And when we finally slow down?

We feel guilty.
Lazy.
Like we’re falling behind.

But here’s the truth:

Constantly “doing” keeps your body stuck in sympathetic overdrive, the fight or flight state.

That means your body can’t fully:

❌ Burn fat
❌ Balance hormones
❌ Heal inflammation
❌ Digest properly
❌ Think clearly

So if you’re dealing with stubborn belly weight, anxiety, brain fog, poor digestion, or exhaustion, it’s not because you’re not doing enough.

It’s because you’ve been doing too much for too long.
Your body doesn’t need more willpower.

It needs permission to rest.
To breathe.
To feel safe again.

When you shift into parasympathetic (rest + digest) mode, your metabolism, hormones, and nervous system finally start to sync.
And that’s when healing and fat loss actually happen.

This week, I invite you to pause.
Take a walk outside.
Breathe deeply.
Say no without guilt.
