Sweet patients...March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness month. Over the years, we have lost a few very sweet patients to colon cancer. I made a promise to the one we lost this last year that we would make an effort to screen as many people as we could. He was a healthy man without any symptoms until it was too late. He passed in the Fall and it broke our hearts. Since then, many of you have come in with a cold and left with an order for either cologuard or a colonoscopy. In keeping with our promise, we want to offer an order for either cologuard or a colonoscopy if you meet screening requirements. Most insurance companies will pay for either if you are over 45 years of age. While you will be responsible for the cost of your copay for the procedure itself, the service from our office which includes screening interview and facilitating whichever order you need or prefer will be free. You will need to come to the office, complete paperwork and present your insurance card as we have to submit demographics, a short note, and your insurance for the order. We will not collect a copay or bill your insurance for this part of the screening. I am currently out of the office until the week of March 17th. I don't want to overwhelm the covering staff, so let's start March 17th and we will run the rest of March and possibly the first two weeks of April. You do not have to be a current patient. Before the 17th, call your insurance provider and verify that they cover either cologuard or a screening colonoscopy and let's talk about getting it ordered. If you do not have time to stop by during our regular business hours, we can also handle this via Telehealth, just call the office at 334-737-6880 to set it up.
Wishing you good health, Brandy.
