We remember our loved ones not only in calling their names, but also in doing their work. Honoring their plant and medicine ways and integrating their wisdom into our everyday lives. Honor our mothers each and every day.

Happy World Doula Day! Special shout out to all the doulas doing this work in Louisiana. Keep on doing the good work 👏🏾 👏🏾👏🏾

Today is WORLD DOULA DAY the kickoff of WORLD DOULA WEEK March 22-28th!

We would like to shout out all our Community Birth Companion Trained Doulas!

💜 Doulas are birth companions who provide emotional, physical, and informational support during childbirth and in the postpartum period. They may also act as an advocate, supporting the woman’s right to make health decisions regarding her own body and the baby.

🩵 Unlike partners, family members, or friends who may be present during birth, doulas have a formal training in birth support.

💜 Doulas are not medical professionals because they are not trained to provide medical treatment, but they are an important part of your birth team.

✨️✊🏿 PROUD to be a PRESENTER for the BLACTATION SERIES hosted by REGISTER TODAY✨️✊🏿

The BLACTATION Series is March 4-6, 2026; 8 AM - 5 PM PST

Day 3 of the 2026 BLACTATION Series centers Cultural Relevance.

This day honors lived experience, community wisdom, and the cultural contexts that shape feeding, parenting, and care in Black families. We explore how culture, tradition, and identity intersect with lactation support — and why culturally grounded care is essential, not optional.

- CERPs approved
- Live + 90-day replay access

I had the honor and privilege of being the Project Director of the Where We Live: Opelousas Neighborhoods Project.

What makes this photo exhibit special is that it is not told from one voice or one point of view. It is told through the lenses of community members — long-time residents, newer residents, visitors, and those who simply love Opelousas and St. Landry Parish.

The photographs come from neighborhoods like Brickyard, The Hill, North End, South Park, and many others. Each image reflects how someone experiences home.

Today, for the exhibit's opening, folks came out through the rain and the cold, the attendance was phenomenal! I want to thank our leaders, photography leads and instructors, and our workshop hosts who opened doors, shared space, and helped teach others how to use their camera phones and see their surroundings in new ways. This truly has been a collaborative and community-driven effort.

The 7th day of Kwanzaa is Imani, Faith. We know faith without works is dead 😉 When you feeling unsure about your birth, anxious about the outcome, fearful of what you may or have not experienced, take action. Journaling, daily affirmations written and said aloud, meditating on birth, visualizing yourself opening up and the baby turning and passing through you safely will help you. Do this consistently. Know that your Imani in yourself can be the defining point in your birthing success.

Habari Gani? KUUMBA Habari gani!
The 6th day of Kwanzaa centers CREATIVITY. We know Black folk are a creative people. Alot of times people focus on the song and dance part, even our food. Our creativity is also seen in our braiding, basket weaving, spoken word, metal work, farming, healing and yes the creation of life. Babies are one of the greatest forms of creation, because the potential they have to make and create this world better than the way we give it to them. And that's peace.
