Important Announcement: A New Chapter Ahead
Dear valued clients and community,
I am excited to share news that Blumrich Counseling will be starting a new chapter. Our office at 333 South Main Street will be closing its doors on April 17th but we will be joining the teams at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice and Harmon Medical Clinic here in Opelousas. While this decision is both a scary and exciting one, it brings incredible opportunities, including multiple locations, and allows us to serve even more clients in the future.
It saddens me to close the doors to a mental health practice that has had the privilege of serving and helping so many people over the last 13 years. Your trust and support in me and our counselors have meant the world, and I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for allowing us to be a part of your journey. In January 2013, I opened the doors of Blumrich Counseling as a solo Licensed Professional Counselor. As the demands for mental health services grew, I began to grow my business and add additional counselors. During these years we have served more than 31,000 hours of mental health for thousands of clients. Sadly, this number doesn’t come close to meeting the mental health needs of our community.
This is why we are thrilled to share that we will be joining a new team who will help continue the legacy of providing exceptional service and support. We want to help MORE people grow! Look for our mental health services to begin at our new locations on May 1st. You can still contact us at (337) 945-1032 and Amy will be happy to assist you. Our new locations will be at:

I cant even say how excited I am about this!!!!!!! For YEARS!!! Blumrich Counseling has struggled with getting mental health counselors to come to Opelousas. This was a struggle for 2 reasons:
1. The Medicaid reimbursement for counseling sessions is nearly half of what private insurance reimbursement rates are. By the time a counselor has completed their Masters degree, their state licensure exam, AND the 3,000 hours (yes, that is correct, THREE THOUSAND HOURS) of post-Masters experience, they stay in the larger cities and only take private pay and/or private insurance.
I can't blame them. A counselors time is worth that.
2. Those 3,000 hours that a Provisionally Licensed Counselor (PLPC) has to get, since they can't bill insurance, can only be paid out of pocket. Many people in our area can't afford the typical counseling fee, therefore, PLPCs don't work here because of lack of people who can pay .

Cross your fingers, make praying hands...pray. Our community needs all three mental health it can get and this would be a HUGE step in the right direction!!

A project near and dear to counselors at Blumrich Counseling.

The Journey and the Well has been a project that has given me so much hope for our community in the future. I have often said, "This is what I want to do for the rest of my life! " I ask each of you to kindly to share and support our endeavor. This is the biggest thing this project has ever conceived or initiated.....and I guarantee, it won't be the last.
