When people ask me: "How do you do it all?"
My answer always is: "I don’t!"
And the truth is- I don't want to!
I especially dread administrative tasks and paperwork 😣

We need to debunk the myth of "doing it all" being the ultimate goal, for ALL - but especially for physicians - so we can focus on what we do best: Apply our clinical skills to patient care 🩺
I am a true believer in the village concept - and BGC could not care for its patients without the BGC village which includes my dedicated virtual staff from Ready to Round ❤

Happy New Year from everyone at BGC and RTR 🎉🥳🎊!!!

We finally got to have our “ hybrid“ holiday party and celebrate into 2025 together - Bergen Geriatric’s lucky 13th year!

And we really are lucky to have each other’s support - near or far because EVERYONE contributes in their own special ways, thank you for that!

Looking forward to more stories, laughs as well as sad and happy tears - together ❤

I always enjoy our staff meetings - the face to face time in an outreach based setting is not only productive but also fun - especially with this crew :)
We got to discuss clinical updates and brainstorm and celebrate a belated National Nurse Practitioner Week where we expressed gratitude for all the hard work and contributions to our patients that are made every day by our NPs!
The theme for this year was "NPs at the Heart of Healthcare" and I cannot imagine NPs with bigger hearts than our very own Anne, Rachel, Marie, Ashley, Dana and Monica!
Thank you ladies for all that you do - and for doing it with a sincere dedication to caring for our BGC patients!

More transcontinental teaching , workshopping and learning from each other, all while enjoying local delicacies !

" Salamat po " to all members of BGC's outstanding remote support team for travelling to Manila for our first ( and definitely not last !) in person (!) workshop despite rain and winds and crazy traffic!

Besides all the professional and cultural insights we gained into each other's worlds ( you all taught me so much , thank you 🙏🏼 ) - more importantly the personal connection and team experience was unbeatable.

I left the Philippines inspired and with a full heart ❤️…and looking forward to working even closer together with these talented nurses and medical professionals ( also looking forward to wearing my new scrubs 😉 )

As I was having a little bit of a stressful morning, I looked at the calendar and noticed it is the first day of pride month!
And even though I respect difference and try to live in a mindset of inclusion every day (admittedly with varying success at times but at least I try my best), it serves as a good reminder of how much adversity and judgement some people face simply for living and loving the way they do…

So - sharing this and sending good vibes to all my friends, family, colleagues, neighbors and patients!

Surprise for the BGC team !!!

As part of ongoing efforts to remain by recognizing and finding one’s personal (and shared strengths) as well as limitations and cheering each other on, the BGC team jumped into full action during a personalized training session!

Thank you Morgan from for the motivating and inspiring (as well perspiring :) workout - my favorite quote : “ You have to be your strongest when you feel your weakest“

And all of it while looking fabulous in -Deer : Thank you to the talented Kristine Deer for bringing joy with your fab gear to people of all genders, ages, backgrounds and sizes!

And work hard, play hard… so we also got to celebrate everyone’s birthday at the same time!
What a great time.

Finding strength is not hard when surrounded by a team like this.
Thank you BGC team for the hustle you bring to work every single day. ❤️

Happy National Nurses Week to all the fabulous nurses working with us!

Thank you so much for your care - so thankful that you chose this profession, truly.

You nurses make us or break us (providers)! Take it from a doctor who once was a green resident . I was highly dependent on nurses making sure I didn't completely fail, patients didn't get harmed and they were also the only ones who could protect us from those notorious attendings :)
I have learned so much and continue to do so from the nurses who were and are part of my professional journey - including each of you that I work with in different capacities ( and parts of the world ! ) every day ❤️

You chose a path of rigorous and costly education, knowing the reward would not be monetary (because how can you pay for all the work filled weekends, missed family dinners, tears shed and unused gym memberships), but the humble hope (and proud reality) that in some way, somehow you were the one who made that difference.

You certainly make a difference to me , the BGC team and especially our patients !

BGC travels the world !
As we celebrated Edelann and Lax during their amazingly colorful and wonderful wedding in Goa (BGC was there! - represented by our very own care coordinator Heather and RN Olga) we were also able to offer free medical services in the Philippines in honor of recently lost members of this community. ❤️

And yes - Bergen Geriatric Care tried their best to provide care to some younger patients as well :)
Also amazing how the wit and wisdom of elders proves to be a global gift. Lots of laughter with 85 yo Mrs. Sofia!

No better way to honor our lost loved ones than celebrating their lives and protecting life in general.

And a reminder to appreciate the access to healthcare that our - yes, albeit flawed - system gives us. It should not be taken for granted.

I thank everyone who made this possible - especially our BGC team at home and in the virtual world that again pulled it all together! Holding up the fort, working tirelessly and offering support to us traveling BGC members and taking care of our patients (across the world !) - and most importantly caring for one another ….
