What does Occupational Therapy look like❓

It looks like someone practicing how to button a shirt again. 👔 Rebuilding the strength and dexterity to hold a coffee cup. ☕ Rehearsing the motions to prepare a simple meal and learning to use a reacher to safely pick things up without bending 🫳.

During Occupational Therapy Month, we’re celebrating the amazing therapists who help our rehab patients rebuild confidence, independence, and the skills that make daily life meaningful. 🫶

April is Volunteer Month, and we are celebrating the amazing people of all ages who share their time with our residents. From calling bingo to painting nails 💅, performing music 🎵 to simply sitting and chatting, our volunteers bring an essential joy and connection to our community.

Last week, held the most beautiful remembrance service to remember and honor those we all loved so dearly. ❤️ Thank you to Tracy Tucker, Senior Chaplain at Community Hospice & Palliative Care, for leading the service. The residents, staff, family, and friends of Life Care Center of Orange Park were so grateful for the opportunity to share memories of their loved ones. 🕊️

With Easter fast approaching, we decided it was the perfect time for an Easter-themed cooking class! 🐰🥕 We made stuffed crescent rolls in the shape of carrots using tin foil shaped into cones. We sliced croissant dough, wrapped the pieces around the tinfoil, and baked them. 🥧

When they were cool enough to handle, we then took out the tin foil and added our favorite cream cheese inside. Some chose a savory flavor, such as veggie or garlic and chives, while others chose a sweet flavor, like blueberry or brown sugar and cinnamon. For the top, we used a lettuce leaf. 🥬

They really did look like giant carrots, and they were delicious! We kept our eyes peeled for the Easter Bunny, just in case he tried to steal a nibble. What a fun time! 🩷
