Something prompted me to check my junk email folder today and I found this unsolicited email that was routed to junk. What a joy. Family Life Care has the best clinicians and caregivers.

Mr. Bellotti, I wanted to make you aware of my recent experience with Family Life Care and how pleased I am with the services provided. I underwent a total knee replacement on July 21 and began physical therapy the next day with Patricia. I can't say enough about Patricia and the excellent care and guidance she provided over the weeks we worked together. From her first visit until her last on September 8, she was always, encouraging, enthusiastic and professional. Her many years as a physical therapist were obvious in the way she guided me through my therapy and enabled me to meet my goals. In addition, Patricia has a wonderful personality and was a joy to have in our home. I also must mention Doug. I worked with Doug on the days Patricia couldn't make it and I couldn't have been more pleased. Doug was great at encouraging me and providing just enough push to get me to the next level. Doug also has a great personality and was fun to work with. My wife was very impressed with Doug's politeness and how courteous he was. Because of Patricia and Doug, my wife and I have told friends, neighbors and even my surgeon, how happy we were with Family Life Care. Joint replacement and everything that follows is never fun. But having Patricia and Doug to help me through it was a real blessing. Family Life Care is very fortunate to have these two wonderful employees representing them.

A great article from Wells Fargo regarding care for the family caregiver. As a Care Manager and Member of ALCA, it is awesome to see the article mention building a professional team including Care Managers. Also referenced is the use of respite care. These recommendations perfectly align with Family Life Care's holistic approach to patients from home making and companionship through hands on care and Medicare Post Acute care serving patients across the entire in-home and home health continuum.

This is a very interesting article on the ability of seniors to age in place by State. Florida, where Family Life Care assists seniors to age in place, ranks last in the nation. One of the driving reasons is ratio of caregivers available to seniors, which this article places at 56. This is actually better than the previous research I saw where that number was 62 caregivers per senior. But, Florida is last on the measure regardless of how the number is calculated and Florida has ranked last in every such survey since 2016.

While this is a challenge for seniors, it is a great opportunity for us at Family Life Care as we provide assistance for seniors to age in place in their home with some of the best caregivers around.

From the article: Florida ranks as the worst state for aging in place, primarily due to its limited availability of home health aides – there are 56 seniors per aide, placing it 50th in the nation. Additionally, 30.7% of homeowners aged 65 and older spend more than 30% of their income on housing, ranking Florida 45th on that measure. The state also fares poorly in terms of weather hazards. Despite its nickname, the Sunshine State averages 53 inches of precipitation per year—more than almost any other state.

However, Florida didn’t perform poorly across the board. Just 39.5% of older adults live alone, ranking it 8th nationally, and 20.6% of home health agencies earned a 4.5 or 5-star rating from CMS, placing it 13th.
