🧩 Therapy Tip Tuesday

Try “Choice Within Structure” at home!

Kids often do better when they feel a sense of control — especially during tasks that require speech, reading, or fine-motor effort. Instead of asking open-ended questions, offer two clear choices within the activity.

Examples:

“Do you want to write with marker or pencil?”
“Should we read sitting on the couch or at the table?”
“Play-dough first or cutting paper first?”
“Blue or yellow sensory bin?”

This keeps the activity structured, reduces frustration, and boosts engagement — all while supporting communication, flexibility, and confidence.

🌟 Therapy Tip Tuesday: Talk During Play!

Playtime is one of the best opportunities to build speech, language, and connection.

🧸 As your child plays, try:

* Describing what they’re doing (“You’re stacking the blocks!”)
* Labeling objects and actions (“car,” “jump,” “big tower”)
* Asking simple questions (“What’s next?” or “Where did it go?”)

You don’t need flashcards or worksheets — just talk, model, and have fun. These moments support language growth naturally and build confidence.

⭐ Therapy Tip Tuesday: Try a “Heavy Work Break”!

Heavy work activities (pushing, pulling, lifting, squeezing) help kids regulate their bodies, improve attention, and feel more organized — especially before homework, reading practice, or transitions.📓

These activities give the body proprioceptive input, which helps children calm, focus, and stay on task. 😌

Try this at home:
- Push a full laundry basket across the floor 🧺
- Carry books from one room to another 📚
- Do wall pushes 💪
- Animal walks (bear walk, crab walk, frog jumps) 🐻 🦀 🐸
- Squeeze a stress ball or Play-Doh 🎾

Just 2–3 minutes can make a big difference! ⏲️
