For an early anniversary present I got Tyler a tattoo of Mack’s nose print. We talk about him often and wonder about what he could of become. We never planned on replacing Mack, but when Rex was born, it was hard to believe that out of all the times we’ve had puppies, and always been in an abundance of boys, this time around Rex was the only boy, along with the fact during my own labor with Ellie, I looked at the window to see Raina and Mufasa getting ready to breed, not 2 days after Mack’s passing. I truly believe a piece of Mack came back to us in Rex, and although it took some convincing for Tyler we now have Rex. He definitely does not replace Mack one bit, he reminds us of him everyday

🐐 We’ve got too much milk! 🥛

So we’re offering a herd share! This basically means; you purchase a “share” in our dairy herd, that share fee covers the cost of you 1/2gallon milk jars (4 of them! Two that get cleaned whilst you have the other two!) then once a week you pay boarding, feeding and caring for the portion of the herd that you own, and you then get the right to what the herd produces (1 gallon of milk per week - half gallons are also available) we set a day and time in the week that you’re available to pick up your milk, and hey presto! You got goat milk!

If this sounds like something youd be interested in drop me a message and we can iron out the finer details

*in Virginia it is illegal to sell raw goats milk for human consumption so if you wish to purchase milk, this is the only way.

This year we don’t pack our bags for “destination Christmas” we stayed at home and I’ve loved every minute of it. This has really been the first year Waylon’s understood what Christmas is all about and it’s been so magical for him, from finding Santa’s boot prints and half eaten cookie, to seeing his old toys no longer under the tree and new ones in place of. Christmas dinner at home and my two constructions workers “working on stuff” to end the night. This time next year we’ll have a 3 year old and an almost one year old and I’m not okay with that

Thank you all so much for attending the Beginners Soap Making Class today!

I hope everyone had a great time this afternoon and feels more confident in making their own soaps at home. Please feel free to message me with any questions or concerns you may have as you start on your new soap making adventure!

Overview of todays class

Leave soap in the mold for 24-48 hours

Now I know how exciting it will be to break open those molds and take a look at what you've made, but I promise you, waiting will make it that much better! Once you have un-molded your soap you can go ahead and cut it up into bars - typically you can get 3 really good chunky sized bars or 4 average sized bars.

Products that we used in the class

So here is a list of products that we used in the class (just click on the name and it should direct you to an Amazon page

As a point of reference I typically use this mold (https://amzn.to/3XvelsR) and get around 10 bars of soap made but here are the molds (https://amzn.to/3xl7nvO) we used today - if you decided you'd like to use the larger molds feel free to reach out and I can help you figure out a recipe size for it.

Less than a week away!

Hello all! I'm so excited to say our class is full for this Saturday, and I can't wait to teach you all about how to make soap!

A few bits of housekeeping!

Firstly, I will be sending out an email following this one which will have a link to our Lye Safety Agreement. PLEASE read through this carefully and digitally sign - if you're having difficulties signing I will have paper copies with me on Saturday but even still please read through this agreement!

Secondly, don't wear anything nice! - this is the only part that sucks about making soap outside - ideally you need to have as much of your skin covered as possible. Lye is a caustic substance and can burn your skin. You will have to wear gloves during the soap making process so if you have an allergy to latex please bring your own gloves - I can't guarantee I will have latex free gloves.

Thirdly, eye protection. Don't go all out and get yourself a fancy pair of goggles, if you already wear glasses and feel comfortable enough using those that is fine - please avoid wearing sunglasses, and this could make it a little more difficult to see what you're doing. But you should be able to pick up a cheap pair of safety glasses from your local hardware store for a couple bucks.

Class will start at 12pm. Please arrive a little earlier if you didn't get chance to fill out the lye safety agreement online. I will start the class off with a demo so everyone has a bit of an idea on what we're doing sometime class can go on until 2pm other times we finish earlier and sometime we finish later.

I will also have plenty of our goat milk products for purchase after the class and please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have before class.

If you're running late or have an emergency and cannot attend please feel free to text me at 540-859-0226 as of this point I can no longer offer a refund but would be happy to hold a space in another class for you in the future.

Many Thanks
Can't wait to see you all on Saturday!
