Madison Saunders Recovery

It has been a while since we last updated. That is because Maddie has been HARD at work recovering from the accident in September of 2023. There have been ups and there have been downs, but she has stayed focused on working towards her goals of regaining the ability to carry out tasks she has once before. She will continue to work hard to recover more each day!

We are over the moon with her success we have witnessed so far. From being told she wouldn't ever walk again to this? Maddie inspires us all 🥰🥰🥰

A year ago today several lives were negatively effected by a windstorm of bad decisions. Madison's being just one of them.

Looking back at the initial prognosis she was given after her marathon of a spinal surgery, we can say they were wrong. It's not their fault they were wrong. They didn't know resiliance and determination of Madison like we do.

This past year has been HARD for her. She has been kicking ass in therapy trying so hard to get back what she lost that night, with Rusty by her side. God only knows how this year would have been if she had lost him too.

Thank you to everyone who has supported her. We are so greatful for the first responders who worked the car accident to get her and the others that were injured safe and transported to the hospital. We cannot thank the massive medical team enough who fought and continue to fight alongside Madison in her recovery. We are forever greatful to the people who constantly searched for and ultimately captured Rusty, to the people who donated and shared her story, and to the people who just check in on her from time to time. We are, and she is forever greatful.

Keep pushing forward, Madison. We all love you and will always be here for you, rooting you on.

"Travis with T & S Services has been a customer with Virginia Tractor for quite some time. Over the years we have gotten to know him and his family and appreciate their loyalty to our store. On Septemeber 29th of this past year, his daughter, Madison was involved in a horrific car accident that left her uncertain of her ability to walk again. When we heard this news, it affected all of us here at Virginia Tractor. We knew we had to do something to cheer her up. Over the last couple years Madison would come to the shop to either pick up a mower or drop one off and joke that she wanted her own color mower. Of course, the equipment that T & S Services have all gotten names. Well, this is her favorite mower Johnny Jr. Our idea to cheer her up was to donate this custom paint job for her mower. Something she's always wanted since her father started her on the crew. Madison, we hope your road to recovery keeps steadily improving one step at a time. Thank you for showing us all that you are only as strong as your toughest battles and that no matter what, you just have to keep going. We enjoyed putting this surprise together for you, although we know you have been missing having it in the field."

Yall... Maddie is on her way home right now!!!! There is still a long journey ahead but it will be so amazing to have her beautiful face home again 😁

Madison is getting discharged on Novemeber 2nd. We are all excited to break out of here and and see her at home ☺️ she will be doing 5 days/week outpatient intensive therapy here since she continuing to work so hard with all of the technology they provide. This is her first time sitting in a normal chair since the accident on September 23rd, and that small act has made her day today 🥰

Madison is making outstanding headway in Sheltering Arms. This machine is called an Exoskeleton. It is programmed to walk for her to improve muscle memory and strength. Right now, she is able to put some work into walking with her right leg, which is why you see her struggle some in this video. That is her actually using some of her own ability to move her leg with the machine, rather than only the machine doing the work for her! She is working overtime in PT even though she is in constant pain from the surgery site, and her muscles being worked in general.

She never ceases to amaze us all ❤️

We are coming closer to getting a tentative discharge date. With that, we still need to prep so many things for her homecoming. For that, we need your help. We need to focus on adjusting everyday life things for her comfort at home.
