🩺 General Healing Timeline for Plastic Surgery

1. Immediately After Surgery (Day 0–3)
• Swelling, bruising, and discomfort are common.
• You’ll likely have bandages, drains, or compression garments depending on the procedure.
• Pain is usually managed with prescribed medication.
• You should rest and limit physical activity.

2. Early Recovery (Week 1–2)
• Sutures or stitches may be removed (unless dissolvable).
• Swelling and bruising peak and then begin to subside.
• Light activities may be resumed, depending on the procedure.
• You may return to work (especially if non-physical), depending on your healing and the nature of your job.

3. Intermediate Recovery (Week 3–6)
• Swelling continues to decrease.
• Final results start becoming visible, though not yet complete.
• Scar care may begin (silicone sheets, creams, etc.).
• Gradual return to exercise if cleared by your surgeon.

4. Long-Term Healing (2–12 months)
• Swelling resolves completely.
• Scars mature and fade, becoming flatter and lighter in color.
• Full results of the surgery become apparent.
• Continue protecting the area from sun exposure to prevent hyperpigmentation.
