Meet Phil Simpson-this week’s patient spotlight!

Phil has been on our metabolic health protocol for a little over 6 weeks. Here is what he has to say about his experience so far:
“Before I started the program I was sore all over. My knees, back and hips especially hurt. I would get tired easy and would end up sleeping half the night in a recliner because my back and legs hurt so bad laying in bed.

I learned of the program from a friend who had suffered many of the same symptoms I had. He had been on the program for about 30 days and shared with me how much better he was feeling and how his inflammation had decreased. I knew how miserable I felt and how hard my weight and inflammation was on my body and knew it was time to do something so I can be around and active for years to come.

I haven’t felt as good as I do now in several years. I have noticed a decrease in inflammation and I do not have the pain and soreness I had before. I can go to bed at night and sleep through the night, which is a huge benefit to my health and energy level the next day. I have more stamina working and increased energy. Another huge benefit is in just over 40 days on the program I have lost at least 30 pounds. In general I feel so much better and it has helped me both physically and mentally. I am exited to see how it will change my life and health over the next several months.”

Orzo or Rice- whats the difference?
Here’s a quick break down for you to help with your meal prep needs!

Orzo (Pasta made from wheat, often semolina)
• Higher protein (compared to white rice): About 7g per 2 oz dry serving, helping with muscle repair and satiety.
• More fiber (if whole wheat orzo): Supports digestion and stabilizes blood sugar.
• Rich in B vitamins (especially folate, thiamine, niacin): Important for energy metabolism.
• Contains iron: Supports healthy red blood cells.
• Versatile for Mediterranean-style diets: Often paired with veggies, olive oil, and lean proteins, boosting overall nutrition.

Rice

White rice
• Easily digestible: Gentle on the stomach, good for people with digestive issues.
• Quick energy source: High in simple carbs, ideal for athletes who need fast fuel.
• Fortified varieties (in U.S.): Often enriched with iron and B vitamins.

Brown rice (whole grain)

Meet Meggan Ingles, this weeks patient interview!

She says:
“Before, I felt bloated, horrible heartburn/indigestion-literally taking at least 2 tums EVERY night just so I could sleep; unable to enjoy some of my favorite things because of it.

I chose to try the protocol because of the smallest possibility of being able to enjoy pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving and Christmas WITHOUT breaking out in itchy hives/rash, balance my hormones and see if I could help my thyroid function better with the half I have left plus get my weight a little more under control. Honestly, just took a step of faith in trusting my friend and letting God guide me to an answer. And, let's be totally honest, curiosity.
