The rest of the crew:
Ryan AkersâEMTâRyan joined the roster as a driver and like his wife, Autumn, quickly completed the EMT basic course. And we are so glad to have him on our roster. Ryanâs common sense and his fearless âget it doneâ attitude make him an extremely valuable teammate. He works full time, has 4 young children at home, and he survived the last year while his wife was in Paramedic schoolâto call him âsteadyâ would be an understatement! Ryan also serves on CC District 1 Volunteer Fire Department.
Julia Osage-MerrillâDriver and EMT studentâJulia is fairly new to CC Ambulance roster. She is currently working her way through EMT basic training and serves on Ordway Volunteer Fire Department. She comes to us with dispatch experience which is always helpful. We are excited to see what the future holds for Julia.
Shawn SwopeâParamedicâto say Shawn works full time would be completely inaccurate. He is employed by AMR/Medtrans which he calls âhis job.â He is on two volunteer rosters--Fowler Fire & Ambulance and Crowley County Ambulance. He is the lead instructor for EMT basic classes and CPR training as well as a continuing education instructor. He has two young children, and if thatâs not enough, he is the Mayor of Fowler! Shawn lives and breaths everything EMS and he is always willing to share his knowledge with anyone he can at any level. He mostly helps CC Ambulance on high acuity calls such as traumas or pediatrics and our staff and his willingness to help is very reassuring to those of us with less experience.
Jeremy HarrisâDriverâJeremy has been on our roster for a couple of years. He works full time and serves on CC District 1 Volunteer Fire Department.
Maceo BobbsâDriverâMaceo is new to the area and our newest staff member. Welcome to the CC Ambulance Crew!
Patrick CokeâDriverâPat has been a part of CC Ambulance crew a couple of different times. He works full time at Sutherlandâs. He also serves on Ordway Volunteer Fire Department.
Kelli Jo BrubakerâAdvanced EMT, Secretary/Media Liaison (yes, I am the voice behind the page!)âI began my career in healthcare in 1991 when I took a job as a CNA, followed by nursing school which I completed in 1997. In 2019 I took a full-time position w/United Health Care doing Utilization Review and working from home. I was concerned about losing some of my hands on clinical skills since I was no longer doing any bedside nursing. My husband was on CC Ambulance and I knew they were in need of volunteer EMTs so I decided to take the EMT basic course as a way to keep my skills sharp and serve my community. Now I often question myself why I didnât go into the EMS field in the first place! In an effort to hopefully continue to staff CC Ambulance crew and be able to keep our local ambulance service in Crowley County, I mainly focus on recruiting, teaching, training, and mentoring new EMTs, and all I can say isâI could not be prouder of our staff and I am humbled to be a part of such a fine group of people! I love Crowley County and I am truly overwhelmed by the outpouring of support the community has for their local ambulance service.
One of the main benefits of serving on a volunteer Ambulance service is the relationships and the camaraderie that goes along with it. When people experience crisis or traumatic situations together, they form bonds like no other. Our EMS brothers and sisters become our second family. For many of usâTHIS IS WHY WE DO IT!
If you are interested in being a part of our CC Ambulance family, stop by the station and talk to Mario or Art or hit me up on Facebook. Trust me, itâs more than just a job! If youâre cut out for it, it becomes a calling!
