You’ve likely heard of BPA, the chemical Bisphenol A, associated with plastic water bottles and plastic food storage. This icky chemical is an endocrine disruptor found in research to contribute to infertility, early puberty, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and more. Just the sort of thing you want permanently bonded in your mouth right? Wrong! Yet most general dentists are still placing composite resin fillings with BPA present. While the BPA that leaches from these fillings is currently deemed safe, we prefer to limit the toxic load where we can. That’s why our practice uses a biocompatible product that is ceramic based.
