🌿 Why Be a Genealogist? Why Keep Searching?

Why stay up late pouring over census records, old letters, ship manifests, and barely legible handwriting?
Why dig through dusty archives or chase down one clue for weeks — sometimes months — with no guarantees?

Because every ancestor has a story.
And someone has to tell it.

We do this work to:
📜 Give names and voices to those who’ve been forgotten
🧬 Understand where we come from — and what shaped us
💔 Heal generational gaps and uncover truths
🌳 Build a tree rooted in real lives, not just dates and boxes

It’s not always easy. Sometimes it’s frustrating.
But when you find that missing piece… when the story finally clicks into place… there’s nothing like it.

That’s the why.
Because the past matters. And so do the people in it.

As we celebrate Independence Day, I can’t help but reflect on how our family histories are woven into the fabric of this country.

Maybe they fought in wars, worked the railroads, raised families, or stood up for what they believed in — quietly shaping history with their lives.

This holiday isn’t just about fireworks and flags.

And through genealogy, we uncover those stories — the sacrifices, struggles, and strength — that remind us how freedom was fought for, earned, and passed down.

🌙💭 Some Nights, I Can’t Sleep… Because My Ancestors Won’t Let Me.

They whisper from the pages of ship manifests and faded documents…
A mother clutching her children, staring at the steel-gray ocean.
A husband already gone ahead, waiting in a strange, new land.
A big ship cutting through the Atlantic, carrying everything they had — hopes, fears, names that would soon be mispronounced at Ellis Island.

Their story wasn’t easy.
🧳 They left behind familiar faces and languages.
🚢 Faced uncertainty with every wave.
🇺🇸 And arrived in a country that didn’t always welcome them.

As a genealogist, I stay up late not because I have to, but because I need to.
Because I owe them more than just a name on a tree — I owe them the truth of their journey.

📜 Their courage is the foundation of my story.
And maybe yours, too.
