This month is so busy. Last month was crazy busy. I feel like this is my new tagline! Ha ha!

Anyway, super stoked to be at South Holt today for teacher appreciation week!

Tranquil Healing felt generous this year and donated 2 baskets for the school to raffle off for TWO lucky faculty members. Valued at over $100 each and full of goodies! I can’t wait to hear who the lucky winners are! Each basket is filled with snacks, products for your room or home, products for pain relief, tea and a mug to enjoy your tea from, a Gift Certificate to Tranquil Healing, and more! After this this week and next, Lacy Waggoner, LMT will have logged over 50 hands on hours of healing touch to our School staff as well as the community. (Just physical hands on hours…this doesn’t include office work, and regular every day business hours…we’d have to say closer to 100 hours for that.)

It’s an honor to serve everyone and it’s a blessing to have the ability. After next Friday, I will need a VERY long nap! Ha ha!

(I forgot to get a GOOD pic of the baskets before taking them to the school last Friday, so here is a picture I had sent to my daughter last week when she was curious as to what her momma was up to on her “day off”.
- ‘oh nothing dear, just working’! 😆

I can definitely say that although I don’t have X-ray vision, as a long standing, experienced LMT the muscles, fascia and other soft tissues definitely DO go through palpable changes with regular massage. I found it pretty cool to be able to show the changes! Not gonna lie; I MIGHT be somewhat of a human anatomy nerd 🤓

Swedish Massage is not a luxury; it is a necessity.

Some people hear “relaxation massage” and think candles and spa music.

But here is what is actually happening:

• Heart rate slows
• Breathing deepens
• Muscle guarding decreases
• Blood pressure often drops

That is measurable physiological change.

Calming the nervous system is not a luxury. It is maintenance.

Thank you for showing your love and support!

Borrowing this from a fellow Licensed Massage Therapist and tweaked slightly to align with my own experience.

Common misconception:

Deep tissue = Strong targeted sensation.

Your therapist will choose what your tissues can handle. That's what you pay them to do!

"You can go deeper if you want!" Is outdated information. Deeper doesn't always equate "more and faster healing". Frequency matters more than depth.

Deeper really only equates to the density of the tissue. Thicker and denser tissue requires more pressure and depth, however, when more time is given to soften the more superficial tissues; the pressure applied is lessened allowing deeper tissues to let go. Letting go of the concept of “more pressure” has not only reduced the soreness for my clients but has also shown them that deep tissue doesn’t always have to be uncomfortable. Another reason I always recommend a targeted deep tissue OR add more time when asking for a deep tissue massage. It may cost more money and time but it reduces soreness for the client and allows the fascial system to let go without forcing them. All around better experience for YOU; because your comfort and overall experience is my number one priority!

Yet another reason to schedule regular sauna sessions! Improved immune function, decreased pain, elimination of toxins and so many more! Not to mention, the infrared heat feels absolutely amazing and relaxing.

Dry sauna therapy is emerging as a powerful method for eliminating microplastics from the body. A recent study found that participants who used a dry sauna four times a week for 20–30 minutes experienced up to an 86% reduction in microplastics detected in both their blood and s***m.

Microplastics tiny particles from sources like food packaging, polluted air, synthetic clothing, and bottled water can accumulate over time and may contribute to hormone imbalances, reproductive issues, fatigue, and long-term health concerns. Traditional detox methods have had limited success in clearing them, but dry saunas may offer a new, effective approach.

The high heat of dry saunas triggers deep sweating, helping the body release toxins stored in fat and lymphatic tissues. Unlike steam saunas, dry heat promotes a more intense cellular response without overwhelming humidity. Participants maintained proper hydration and rest after sessions, supporting recovery and ongoing detoxification.

These findings add to growing evidence that ancient wellness practices, like sauna therapy, can work alongside modern science to support health. While further clinical trials are needed, the results are promising for anyone looking to reduce the invisible toxins accumulating in daily life.
