For all my book loving friends--- On Saturday, October 25th Provo Library is hosting a fun event. There will be 100 local authors there and I get to be one of them!!
WhooHoo!!!
I will be there with my book, Li'l Bits, The Littlest Giant which I released last year on October 1st.
I have also been selected to receive a ten minute time slot to feature my book.
It will be the first time I've been able to talk about my book in such a public forum. I am really excited about that. Hopefully a whole new bunch of people will be introduced to Li'l Bits and want to get to know her better.
Come on down to the library and check out all the amazing local authors.

There is a story in Norse Mythology of Thor- The God of Thunder... strong, fearless and unbeatable, being challenged to a wrestling match by an old woman named Elli.
Thor just laughs, thinking this will be the easiest match of his life. But within minutes, he is on the ground... defeated.
What Thor did not know, is that Elli wasn't just an old woman, she was the embodiment of age itself. She was the force of time, of life's natural cycle, and no one, not even the strongest can beat time.
This story is more than just a myth, for the wise, it is a reminder that in a world obsessed with youth, strength, speed and dominance, there is deep power in all that we've been taught and programmed to overlook.
Age is not weakness: It is Wisdom. It is Endurance. It is the part of life that no amount of muscle, status or wealth can outlast.
As we move through shifting times, we would all do well to remember this. A new world cannot be built with brute force, manipulation, or by the blind. This birth will be guided by those who've seen the rise and fall of the past and present; those who have grown roots, not just muscle. Those who carry memory, not ego.
Respect age.
Respect the elders.
Cease chasing the illusion of a 'forever youth' and start tuning into the quiet, steady power of those who've lived long enough to see through illusion; to hear through noise; and feel past the artificial.
In the end, even Thor had to kneel to the force he could not overpower... the wisdom of Time.

This Memorial Day, I want to thank my son, who is currently in the Army. (I love you, Bud)
I have included a picture of my grandfather in his WWI uniform, my great uncle in his WWII uniform, my dad was in the Marines but I couldn't find his photo. (I'm going to have to go on a treasure hunt for that!)
And I included a picture of my granddaughter in a WWII vehicle because I think it's very important that we teach the younger generations about history. Not the whitewashed versions because history can be messy. But the truth. How else are we going to learn not to repeat past mistakes?
Gather as many first or even second-hand stories that you can, from those in your family or neighborhood that can still recall their interaction with what will soon be relegated to an old, dusty book. This way there will always be multiple sources to learn from.

May you enjoy a Blessed Memorial Day!

Just like Supercalifrajalisticexpialidocious can bring an end to nonsense conversations, leave people Agog with what you'll say next. Give these a glance and see how many you can work into a conversation.

These are some pictures from the meeting I had with my first book club. The lady who had asked me to come went all out to make it special.
My book is set in the south, so she made southern food.
There are a number of birthday scenes for Li'l Bits in the book, so the hostess made a birthday cake and decorated with the same colors from the scene in the book.
It may not seem like much, but the effort she went through to make the evening so memorable fed my soul.
When we can create something that touches another person in a positive way-- That is a true gift; not to them but to us.
If you have a dream, pursue it because you never know just who your efforts might inspire.

04/08/2025

I'll be heading out in a bit to go talk to my first Book Club about my book.
Keep reaching for your dreams people!
It may take time-
And it will take work-
But YOU are always worth the effort.

Utah hasn't offered much of a Winter this year so many are moving into a Spring mindset. But don't forget to allow this season to play itself out in its chosen way.
There is always something to be learned through ptience.

Okay- not sure if this is just a ME thing or if anyone else has stuff like this happen?
Last Friday, I went to work on some writing. For YEARS I have had the same computer, and on that computer, the same Word program.
Having clicked on its friendly little icon face at least a thousand times, I was baffled, stymied, dismayed, mystified, (etc) when I went to execute my ritual and there was NO friendly icon waiting for me.
Helloooo--- I am far from tech savvy, but even I know that things like that shouldn't just disappear. (Do they?)
Saturday, I asked a neighbor if he could come assess my dilemma.
He did.
His assessment... my Word program had indeed disappeared.
(I felt like raising frustrated fists to the heavens and yell, "WHY MEEEEEEEEEE?????")
I kid you not, ask anyone who has known me for any length of time. Computers do not behave normally for me. I think this is one reason I have never bothered to get too into them. I use them for basic things but beyond that I bask in the sun of being Luddite.
The actual definition of the word includes being 'opposed' to new technology. I am not opposed, per say. I shall call it, resistant... no-- wary? YES!
I ended up having to buy a whole new Word program which my neighbor made sure was installed correctly.
For the donation of his time, I am repaying him with a massage.
Hands on skills, now that is something I can get in 'touch' with. (Yep- that is my sense of humor)

WhooHoo!!
I found out that the poem I won 1st place with last year at the Quill's Conference, was accepted into the Utah's Best Poetry and Prose 2025 Anthology.
I will only earn $10 for the piece, but I will now have a paid writing credit that I can add to my resume.
Onward and Upward---One Step at a Time.
Keep flapping your wings and you'll eventually take flight.
