Parenting is a developmental process for us not just a chance to help our children through theirs own developmental process.

Secure parenting ain’t a quick hack, but it sure is a meaningful and beautiful legacy to give to our children.

When we choose to grow and mature in ourselves, we give our kids a fighting chance to have a secure attachment with us: truly the most valuable inheritance we could ever offer them.

Comment DEAL for help in identifying and addressing your emotional growth areas and learning more about how to give your kids the 5 gifts of a secure parenting from my latest book “How to Deal With Your ___ So Your Kids Don’t Have To: An Encyclopedia For Ditching Your Emotional Baggage”

Love on.

What if the secret to surviving parenting chaos was something you were born knowing how to do!?

I sat down with Mia Wisinski of to talk about why playfulness isn’t a “nice to have”, it’s one of the most powerful tools we have for co-regulation and secure attachment.

Here are some of our key takeaways:

• Playfulness is innate, stress just suppresses it over time
• Power reversal games give kids autonomy and defuse tension fast
• Singing activates the vagus nerve (and gets you out of fight-or-flight)
• Play is a recovery tool after hard seasons, not just a prevention one

You don’t need to be a perfect parent.
You need to be the kind of parent your kid can come back to.

Because the goal isn’t “never mess up.” You will. That’s parenting.
The goal is that when things get hard—when you raise your voice, when bedtime turns into chaos, when everyone’s dysregulated—you repair. You reconnect. You show your kid: feelings are allowed here, and we can handle them together.

That’s emotional reliability. And it’s how kids process pain with you… instead of carrying it alone for decades.

If you want the scripts + tools to actually do this in real life, comment 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 and I’ll send you the link.

Secure parenting is about putting in enough work on ourselves that we can feel trust in ourselves. Allowing ourselves to notice when we make mistakes so we can correct course, but not living in fear of those mistakes.

Secure attachment is built on relational trust, which we do by being humble enough to acknowledge our human missteps and confident enough to believe that we are the parent our children need.

I love being reminded that the secret to our kid's cooperation was… being silly!

In this week's episode, Mia Waszynski from is here to remind us that silliness isn't a distraction from good parenting... it is good parenting!

When we bring humor, body laughs, and a little playful chaos into our daily routines, something magical happens. Our kids relax. We relax. And suddenly, getting out the door or through bedtime doesn't feel like a battle anymore.

Because connection always comes before cooperation. And nothing builds connection faster than laughing together. 🤍
