Embrace and support Sudden Loss Grievers.

Sudden Loss is just that - sudden... There is NO preparation for a sudden loss - SIDS, su***de, homocide, accidental, underlying health issues or anything else that is unexpected. There is some planning and increased support surrounding families when hospice or palliative care is involved with their Loved One. Sudden Loss is a significant shock without supports in place.

Sudden Loss occurs anywhere, anytime. Unfortunately, sudden death occurs from large cities to rural farm towns, from sea to shining sea. The causes may vary based on the population and demographics though, unexpected deaths are indiscriminate. It is so important that there are coroners in every county.

Sudden Loss can create a disenfranchised grief. Some communities will rally around the bereaved. I've seen this in situations of the untimely accidental death of youth. However, a disconnect may occur in situations of su***de or overdose (to name a few) due to real or perceived societal views. Society has come a long way in talking about all sorts of loss, though we can do so much more to help these families.

YOU are the front line of support for Sudden Loss Grievers. You just may be the first call or compassionate connection after an unexpected loss. These grievers are unaware of supports and are in urgent need of grief information. Grief may not be your strength. That's okay... The fact you are reading this you are on the right track... you are looking for information too.

Grief On the Go supports the HOPE method of grieving. Have you heard of this? Let me explain.

H- Honoring and remembering your loved one. We would never ever want to forget those special people in our lives.

O- Opening your eyes, your HEART and your life to the world around you. There’s so much that this world still has to offer and so much more living that you have to do.

P- Personal growth through grief development. This may be the first time that you’ve had this level of intense grief or an intense loss. We don’t know how to do this. We don’t know how it’s going to touch our lives. What we CAN DO is continue to grow in this new stage of development in our lives.

E- Evolve into a new way of living. Folks report and research supports that when we are grieving a profound loss, we hold our grief in our center. Our work in grief is to build our life around that loss.

Grief presents all sorts of trials and hurts. Grief also offers a growth stage of life. Looking for some HOPE within your grief? You are not alone in your grief.

Grief on the Go App will be coming soon! Stay tuned for when it is ready to load onto a smart phone or tablet.

This is a development that was a seed planted years ago by a previous colleague, Courtney. She asked, "Do you have an app for that?" At the time, I had just released First 52 and an app just seemed like a pipe dream.

Chartreuse Center's mission is to reduce barriers to quality grief information through technology. An app fits perfectly into that mission.

Grief on the Go will start with bereavement focused programs. Family Dream programs are planned for development next year.

I look forward to serving you. I cannot wait for the app release. It is my honor to walk beside you in your grief.
