Depression in men doesn’t always look like sadness.

Sometimes it looks like anger.
Like shutting people out.
Like working nonstop, taking risks, numbing out, or pretending everything is fine.

Many men are taught to stay silent about emotional pain, which can make depression harder to recognize — even by the person experiencing it.

If you’ve lost interest in things you once loved, feel constantly exhausted, struggle to focus, or feel disconnected from everyone around you, you are not weak and you are not alone.

Depression is real. It is treatable. And asking for help is a sign of strength, not failure.

If you or someone you know is struggling, talk to someone you trust or contact a mental health professional.
In a crisis, call or text 988 for immediate support.

Anxiety in men doesn’t always look like worry.
Sometimes it looks like anger, exhaustion, isolation, overworking, shutting down, or trying to “push through” in silence.

Men are often taught to hide vulnerability, which can make anxiety show up through physical symptoms and behavioral changes instead of open conversations about mental health.

Recognizing the signs is not weakness — it’s awareness.
And asking for help is not failure — it’s strength.

You are not alone. Support works. Conversation matters. Healing is possible.

Abraham Maslow gave us a framework for understanding what drives our behaviors. Starting with our most basic needs of survival and moving on to higher level growth needs. Having a better understanding of what drives us, helps us to understand the behaviors. The more we can know about ourselves, the easier the work to learn how to manage our emotions and behaviors can be.

We experience grief anytime we experience loss, it doesn’t have to be the death of a loved one. It can be the loss of a relationship or friendship, loss of a sense of purpose or meaning, loss of a job, or loss of identity. Grief doesn’t follow a schedule or routine and it definitely looks different for each of us. Find your place in the grief process, work your way through at your own pace, and ask help to get through the process when you need it.

Impromptu trip to Boston this weekend started out great yesterday, despite the flight being pushed back and us getting on the ground later than planned. Fish n chips and a beer flight. The 54th Massachusetts Regiment monument. Cheers. And like 100 awesome churches. Hitting the Freedom Trail this morning and the Boston Tea Party late this afternoon. Sometimes the best is time to enjoy yourself.

Recently, I was given the opportunity to give a masterclass on navigating burnout. I am certainly not an expert on the subject, but I have definitely experienced it on my own. More than once. I don't know where you are or what you are going through right now, maybe you need to hear these words about burnout as much as those who attended the masterclass this week....

“The cost of having an emotionally unavailable parent is high. They can impact your self-esteem, mental health, ability to be yourself and do what you need to do as an adult to take care of your own well-being and your family.”

1. They're only willing to listen when you agree with them.

We are not alone in our struggles. People around know the struggle and understand more than we give them credit for. 18%, so almost 1 in 5 adults in the U.S. struggles with depression. This isn’t a journey you have to walk alone. Reach out to those around you. They will understand and care deeply for you. therapy counseling

As you face your day today, don’t let someone rob you of your joy or your excuse for having a bad day. Take some accountability and remember no one else can control your emotions or actions.
