Thyroid nodules are clusters of abnormal cells on the thyroid that form into lumps.
They’re more common in women than in men.
They may be caused by iodine deficiency, auto immune conditions or inflammation impacting thyroid tissues.
Even though 95% of nodules are benign, a fine needle aspiration may be needed to rule out the 5% possibility of cancer.
