Loved getting to talk with NBC 5 Dallas about doing a “digital detox” and why this matters more than ever. The average person checks their phone 250 times a day and spends four to five hours a day on their phone (yikes!)
It’s not our fault; these phones generate tiny powerful hits of dopamine that get us hooked and keep us constantly craving more. As a result we’re more distracted, overstimulated, and disconnected than ever. And since phones aren’t going away we’ve got to find ways, like a digital detox, to create balance.
This segment walks you through how to do a digital detox in a way that’s realistic, not giving up your phone altogether, but stepping back in ways that reduce dependence and make room for habits that deliver “slow dopamine.”
Because when we’re less glued to our screens, we’re more present with the people we love, more available for real connection, and more likely to feel grounded and centered in ourselves.
