What the decades have taught me
By Tina Conrad
20’s (Tryout years)
So many firsts… First real job, first time living in a new state, first time traveling abroad, first marriage, first car loan, first mortgage. Trying to find my footing in a brand new world, trying to establish myself personally and professionally. One day on top of the world, the next falling flat on my face.
30’s (Trial years)
So many trials… divorce (and remarriage) cancer (and the beauty of life after cancer), downsizing after downsizing, climbing the ladder. Barely holding on, letting go of what I can’t hold onto any longer. Watching body parts be removed to save the whole. Realizing that the surrender is as important as the pursuit. Learning I never had control, never will.
40’s (Transition years)
So many insights… people > profession, life after cancer > life before, Florida winters > Indiana winters, Jesus > Everything, Experiences > possessions and aging, well aging is a privilege, a gift, an opportunity.
50’s (Transformative years)
