Have you ever done a sun salutation ☀️? The practice of it to warm up and energize the body while bringing awareness to a daily intention from your heart 💛.
I know, I know... if you’re a yogi, you are probably saying to yourself, “that isn’t a sun salutation pose 🤷🏼♀️”. And, you would be right! This standing pose is called Utthita Hasta Padangustasana (Extended Hand-To-Big-Toe Pose). As you can see, the name of the pose says nothing about the heart.
I love balancing poses bc they really challenge me. I can get myself into them, but ask me to change my focal point 👀 while staying balanced truly begs for my mind to be clear and ONLY clear to remain in a saturated balance.
As they say, the head and heart are truly connected. If your heart is heavy, it will affect your head, likely throwing you off balance.
PSA I don’t have a heavy heart today, but I know what it can feel like.
If we can recognize and acknowledge when our hearts are heavy and only ask them to be consciously open, we can start to find balance....or at least a moment of it. Sometimes it’s baby steps and small victories 🥇
Under the circumstances of the world today, can we each agree that a part of COVID-19, in some way is making your heart feel heavy?
I’d love to challenge you to take a few moments today and stand on one leg (doesn’t have to be the pose I’m doing, but it can!)....
1. Stand on one leg.
2. Once you find a still balance, open your arms wide! LIKE REALLY WIDE!
3. Imagine your heart shining ☀️
4. Change your focus to a point on a wall to your left or right. HINT: move your eyes, THEN your head.
5. Did you fall out of it? (It’s okay if you did. Just try again 😉 remember to clear your head from the chatter)
6. Feel a saturated (non wobbly) balance.
Sweet, huh? Now, go share with your friends...like through Zoom or something at least 6 feet away 😛.
If you haven’t tried a sun salutation, before your work day, id love to hear from you! Peace ✌🏼 🧘🏼♀️
